MCV Bus & Coach
MCV Bus and Coach is an Egyptian manufacturer of bus bodies founded in 2002 when Manufacturing Commercial Vehicles bought some of the design rights of defunct English bus builder Marshall Bus."A Capital idea, the evolution of MCV" ''Buses Magazine'' issue 702 September 2013 page 31 The MCV factory is located in El Salheya El Gedida ("New Salheya"), approximately 100 km north of Cairo. History MCV's first deliveries were five Capital bodies on Dennis Darts for English operator Warrington Borough Transport in early 2003. However TransBus subsequently decided not to make the Dart chassis available to other bodybuilders resulting in the superseding MCV Stirling appearing on the MAN 14.220 chassis. This was in turn succeeded by the MCV Evolution in 2005 that has been built on various chassis from Alexander Dennis, MAN, Mercedes-Benz, VDL and Volvo. MCV has also built double deck bodies with the DD102, DD103 and EvoSeti. The latter has been purchased in sizeable numbers ...

MCV Evora
The MCV Evora (stylised as ''eVoRa''; internal designation: MCV C113/C123/C133) is a single-decker bus bodywork produced by Manufacturing Commercial Vehicles (MCV) since 2018, as the successor to the MCV Evolution. The Evora is currently available on Volvo B8RLE and Volvo B5LH chassis. In terms of styling, the Evora shares many features with the MCV EvoSeti double-decker bus, particularly the styling of the front and rear panels. The 12.2-metre model on Volvo B8RLE chassis has a capacity for up to 46 seats and 95 passengers including standing passengers. The Evora is also available on the shorter, 10.8-metre B8RLE chassis. Operators Uno were the first customer for the Evora, ordering six for their Hertfordshire routes, including the 610, in early 2018. Uno later took delivery of two more Evoras in August 2021. JJ Kavanagh and Sons became the first operator of the Evora in Ireland, taking delivery of three examples in early 2018, which was followed by the delivery of two Evora ...

Double-decker Bus
A double-decker bus is a bus that has two storeys or decks. Double-deckers are used primarily for commuter transport, but open-top models are used as sightseeing buses for tourists, and there are coaches too for long-distance travel. They appear in many places around the world but are presently most commonly used as mass transport in cities of Britain, and in Ireland, China, Hong Kong, Berlin and Singapore. The earliest double-decker horse-drawn omnibus appeared in Paris in 1853 and such vehicles were motorised in the 1900s. Double-decker buses were popularised in Great Britain at the start of the 20th century and today the best-known example is the red London bus, namely the AEC Routemaster. Double-deckers in urban transport were also in common use in other places, such as major cities of India, but were mostly diminished or phased out by the end of the 20th century. However they remain common in Britain as well as Ireland and Hong Kong, while in Singapore and Dhaka they ...

Single-deck Bus
A single-decker bus or rigid is a bus that has a single deck for passengers. Normally the use of the term ''single-decker'' refers to a standard two-axled rigid bus, in direct contrast to the use of the term double-decker bus, which is essentially a bus with two passenger decks and a staircase. These types of single-deckers may feature one or more doors, and varying internal combustion engine positions. The majority of single-deckers have a length of up to , although some exceptions of longer buses exist. They also typically weigh between . In regions where double-deckers are not common, the term ''single-decker'' may lack common usage, as in one sense, all other main types of bus have a single deck. Also, the term may become synonymous with the name transit bus or related terms, which can correctly be applied to double-deckers too. With the exception of regions of major double deck or articulated bus operation, usually major urban areas such as Bus services in Hong Kong, Hon ...

Low-entry Bus
A low-floor bus is a bus or trolleybus that has no steps between the ground and the floor of the bus at one or more entrances, and low floor for part or all of the passenger cabin. A bus with a partial low floor may also be referred to as a low-entry bus or seldom a flat-floor bus in some locations. Low floor refers to a bus deck that is accessible from the sidewalk with only a single step with a small height difference, caused solely by the difference between the bus deck and sidewalk. This is distinct from high-floor, a bus deck design that requires climbing one or more steps (now known as step entrance) to access the interior floor that is placed at a higher height. Being low-floor improves the accessibility of the bus for the public, particularly the elderly and disability, people with disabilities, including those using wheelchairs and Walker (mobility), walkers. Almost all are rear-engine, rear-wheel-drive layout. Configuration Low-floor and low-entry buses Low-floor ...

MCV EvoSeti
The MCV EvoSeti (stylised as eVoSeti) is a Low-floor bus, low-floor double-decker bus body built by MCV Bus & Coach as a replacement for the MCV DD103. It was unveiled in May 2015. Design The EvoSeti body is built on the Volvo B5TL and Volvo B5LH 2-axle chassis for the United Kingdom, as well as the tri-axle Volvo B8L chassis at either or for Hong Kong. Typically, UK examples have a single passenger door for use outside London, with Transport for London specification EvoSetis equipped with an additional central exit door for London use. The EvoSeti is also able to be specified as a purpose-built open-top bus. Operators MCV EvoSetis on the hybrid Volvo B5LH chassis proved highly popular in London. Metroline is both the largest operator of the type and of the EvoSeti overall, initially taking delivery of EvoSetis for their takeovers of tenders for routes London Buses route 30, 30, London Buses route 113, 113 and London Buses route 274, 274 between June and July 2018 before comme ...

Electric Bus
An electric bus is a bus that is propelled using electric motors, as opposed to a conventional internal combustion engine. Electric buses can store the needed electrical energy on board, or be fed mains electricity continuously from an external source such as overhead lines. The majority of buses using on-board energy storage are battery electric buses (which is what this article mostly deals with), where the electric motor obtains energy from an electric vehicle battery, onboard battery pack, although examples of other storage modes do exist, such as the gyrobus that uses flywheel energy storage. When electricity is not stored on board, it is supplied by contact with outside power supplies, for example, via a current collector (like the trolley pole, overhead conduction poles in trolleybuses), or with a ground-level power supply, or through Inductive charging#Dynamic charging, inductive charging. As of 2017, 99% of all battery electric buses in the world have been deployed in M ...

Lithium Iron Phosphate Battery
The lithium iron phosphate battery ( battery) or LFP battery (''lithium ferrophosphate'') is a type of lithium-ion battery using lithium iron phosphate () as the cathode material, and a graphitic carbon electrode with a metallic backing as the anode. Because of their low cost, high safety, low toxicity, long cycle life and other factors, LFP batteries are finding a number of roles in vehicle use, utility-scale stationary applications, and backup power. LFP batteries are cobalt-free. As of September 2022, LFP type battery market share for EVs reached 31%, and of that, 68% were from EV makers Tesla and BYD alone. Chinese manufacturers currently hold a near-monopoly of LFP battery type production. With patents having started to expire in 2022 and the increased demand for cheaper EV batteries, LFP type production is expected to rise further and surpass lithium nickel manganese cobalt oxides (NMC) type batteries. By 2024, the LFP world market was estimated at $11-17 billion ...
