Lüdinghausen ( Westphalian: ''Lünkhusen'' or ''Lünksel'') is a town in district of Coesfeld in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is located on the Dortmund-Ems Canal, approx. 25 km south-west of Münster. Vischering Castle
Vischering Castle (german: Burg Vischering) in Lüdinghausen, North Rhine-Westphalia is the most typical moated castle in the Münster (region) of Germany. This region has one of the highest German concentrations of castles, palaces and fortifications, Lüdinghausen having three by itself. The castle consists of outer defensive courtyard, defensive gateways, moat, drawbridge, main building and chapel. The sandstone walls, the red tile roofs as well as their reflection in the moat provide many harmonious views from the wooded surroundings. Vischering Castle was built by Bischop Gerhard von der Mark to counter the second castle built by the Von Lüdinghausen family. It became the seat of the Droste zu Vischering Family. Droste is the local title for the hereditary noble administrators serving the Bishops of Münster. The moat is constantly replenished by a side-arm of the River Stever. Coesfeld (district)
Coesfeld () is a ''Kreis'' (district) in the northwestern part of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, west of the city of Münster. Neighboring districts are Steinfurt, district-free Münster, Warendorf, district-free Hamm, Unna, Recklinghausen, Borken. History In medieval times the region was subordinate to the bishopric of Münster. When the area became part of the Prussian province Westphalia in 1816 the new administration created two districts, Coesfeld and Lüdinghausen. Except minor changes they stayed until the major reorganization in 1975 when both were merged to form the current district. A few municipalities from the district Münster were also added, while others formerly belonging to the district were moved to neighboring districts. Franz Kamphaus
Franz Kamphaus (born 2 February 1932) is a German Catholic Church, Catholic priest, bishop emeritus of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Limburg, Diocese of Limburg. He was Bishop (Catholicism), bishop of the diocese from 1982 to 2007. He was the only German bishop to oppose Pope John Paul II in the matter of counseling pregnant women in conflict situations. Before being bishop, he taught pastoral theology and homiletics at the University of Münster; afterwards he became minister of a home for people with physical and mental disabilities in Aulhausen. Wiebke Muhsal (born 6 April 1986 in Lüdinghausen) is a German politician with the Alternative für Deutschland (AfD). Since 2014, she is a member of the Landtag of Thuringia and deputy chairman of the AfD caucus. She is also her party's critic on family and education policy and is a member of the Parliamentary Committee on Education, Youth and Sports. Life and education Muhsal was raised in Münster and Bad Salzuflen. In 2005 she began studying Jurisprudence at the University of Jena, from which in 2012 she graduated with a Diplom-Juristin degree. Both represented the sports club TV Wattenscheid. Holger Blume finished seventh in 4 × 100 metres relay at the 1998 IAAF World Cup, with teammates Patrick Schneider, Manuel Milde and Marc Blume. Johannes Kriege
Johannes Kriege (22 July 1859 - 28 May 1937) was a German jurist, lawyer, diplomat and politician. Early life Johannes Daniel Jakob Kriege was born in Lüdinghausen, a midsized town then in Prussia's Province of Westphalia, located between Münster to its northeast and Dortmund to its south. In 1877, he began to study jurisprudence at Göttingen and Strasburg. He passed his stage one state law exams and obtaining a post in the Prussian legal service as a court clerk in 1880 and received his doctorate of law in 1881. That year, he passed his second level state law exams. He entered the Prussian diplomatic service in 1886. Bettina Schausten (born 18 February 1965, in Lüdinghausen) is a German journalist. Early life and education Schausten studied literature, history and Catholic theology in Cologne and in Munich from 1986 to 1992. Career From 1992 to 1996 Schausten worked for German broadcaster SWF as a television reporter. In 1996, Schausten moved to German broadcaster ZDF and soon worked as chief of staff to editor-in-chief Klaus Bresser. She later presented of the channel's morning show, ', from 1999 to 2002 and Politbarometer from 2003 to 2010. Karin Schnaase (born 14 February 1985) is a German badminton player. She represented her country at the 2016 Summer Olympics. She placed 2nd in her group during group play and did not advance to the next round. She is well known for the broken shoe incident with Laura Sarosi at the 2016 European Badminton Championships, where Sarosi handed her spare shoe to make Schnaase able to continue the match.
