László Görög (writer)
László Görög (born László Guttmann; September 30, 1903July 24, 1997) was a Hungarian-American screenwriter. Life and career László Görög was born in Austria-Hungary. His mother's maiden name was Preisz. He emigrated to the United States in 1939. In 1942, he first worked in Hollywood as a screenwriter on an episode of Julien Duvivier's star-studded anthology film ''Tales of Manhattan''. Before 1946, he had occasional jobs on feature films with various production companies. In 1945, he co-wrote ''The Affairs of Susan'', for which he was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Story. From 1953 he worked frequently as a screenwriter, now mainly for the American television. In 1963 he retired from show business. He was married to his wife Helen until his death at the age of 93 years in Los Angeles. Görög's stepgrandson is American comedian Adam Carolla. ''The Land Unknown'' is a 1957 science fiction CinemaScope adventure film about a naval expedition trapped in an Antarctic jungle. The story was allegedly inspired by the discovery of unusually warm water in Antarctica in 1947. It stars Jock Mahoney and Shirley Patterson and was directed by Virgil W. Vogel. The film's low-budget special effects include men in dinosaur suits, puppets and monitor lizards standing in for dinosaurs. Plot Commander Harold Roberts is leading an expedition into Antarctica for the United States Navy to study waters which are unexpectedly warm for a place so close to the South Pole. ''She Wouldn't Say Yes'' is a 1945 screwball comedy film directed by Alexander Hall and starring Rosalind Russell and Lee Bowman. Plot A psychiatrist, Dr. Susan Lane, is leaving a military hospital after spending two weeks working with patients there. Before she leaves, she encounters a patient reading a comic strip by Michael Kent. The comic's character, ''the Nixie'', encourages people to act on their impulses by whistling in their ear.
