Fairfax Luxmoore
Sir Arthur Fairfax Charles Coryndon Luxmoore (27 February 1876 — 25 September 1944) was a British barrister and judge who sat as a Lord Justice of Appeal Life Luxmoore was born on 27 February 1876 to Arthur Coryndon Hansler Luxmoore, an artist, and his wife Katherine. After studying at The King's School, Canterbury he matriculated to Jesus College, Cambridge, which he represented in rugby and cricket. Called to the Bar by Lincoln's Inn in 1899, he took a place in the chambers of George Cave after graduation in 1900. After playing for the England national rugby union team against both Scotland and Wales he threw himself into his work as a barrister, and built up a successful practice. In 1919, he applied to become a King's Counsel, and was accepted. He became a Bencher of Lincoln's Inn in 1922, and in February 1929 was knighted and made a judge of the Chancery Division of the High Court of Justice. Charles Scott Luxmoore
Charles Scott Luxmoore (1794–1854) was an Anglican priest. The son of John Luxmoore, a bishop, Charles Scott Luxmoore was educated at Eton and St John's College, Cambridge. From 1826 to 1854 he was Dean of St Asaph. He married on 10 September 1829, Katherine, daughter of Rev. Sir John Nicholl, Dean of the Arches, of Merthyr Mawr, Glamorgan. They had one son, John Nicholl Luxmoore (1830-1849) who died young following a horse riding accident. Christopher Luxmoore
Christopher Charles Luxmoore (9 April 1926 – 24 February 2014) was the eighth Bishop of Bermuda. Life He was the son of the Rev. William Cyril Luxmoore and his wife Constance Evelyn Shoesmith. He was educated at Sedbergh School and Trinity College, Cambridge, and was ordained in 1953. His first post was as a curate at St John the Baptist, Newcastle upon Tyne after which he was Priest in Charge of St Bede's, Newsham, County Durham. He was then Rector of Sangre Grande, Trinidad and after that Vicar of Headingley, Leeds. The Adelaide Hunt Club is an Australian fox hunting club founded in the 1840s. History Originally called The Adelaide Hounds, the club was founded in Adelaide in the early 1840s.Adelaide Hunt Club. As early as 3 July 1841, the Governor of South Australia Sir George Grey KCB along with about 25 horsemen, hounds and ladies in carriages met for a day’s hunting, on this day a wild dog was the quarry. John Luxmoore
John Luxmoore or Luxmore (1766–1830) was an English bishop of three sees. Life The son of John Luxmoore of Okehampton, Devon, he was born there. He was educated at Ottery St. Mary school and at Eton College, going as a scholar in 1775 to King's College, Cambridge. He graduated B.A. in 1780 and proceeded M.A. in 1783. On 30 June 1795 he was created D.D. at Lambeth by Archbishop John Moore. He became fellow of his college, and having been tutor to the Earl of Dalkeith, he obtained preferment. He was made rector of St. George's, Bloomsbury, in 1782, prebendary of Canterbury in 1703, dean of Gloucester in 1799, and rector of Taynton in 1800. In 1806 he exchanged St. George's, Bloomsbury, for St. Andrew's, Holborn. In 1807 he became bishop of Bristol, in 1808 he was translated as bishop of Hereford, and in 1815 to bishop of St Asaph. HMS Malabar (1866)
HMS ''Malabar'' was a Euphrates class troopship, ''Euphrates''-class troopship launched in 1866, and the fifth ship of the Royal Navy to employ the name. She was designed to carry troops between the United Kingdom and British India, and was employed in that role for most of her life. She became the base ship (or ''depot ship'') at the Royal Naval Dockyard, Bermuda in 1897. She was renamed ''Terror'' in 1901 and sold in 1918. Her name was later used as the ''stone frigate'' to which shore personnel in Bermuda were enrolled, and later for HMS Malabar (shore establishment), Her Majesty's Naval Base Bermuda, after the 1950s, when the dockyard was reduced to a base. Design ''Malabar'' was one of five iron-hulled vessels of the Euphrates Class troopship, ''Euphrates'' class.
