Love Me If You Dare (film)
''Love Me If You Dare'' (french: Jeux d'enfants, lit=Children's games) is a 2003 romantic comedy-drama film directed by Yann Samuell. It stars Guillaume Canet and Marion Cotillard as best friends Julien Janvier and Sophie Kowalsky who begin playing a game of dares as children and find themselves unable to stop as they grow older, even when the game threatens to destroy their lives. Plot The film begins where a little girl, Sophie, is being bullied by other children. Only a bus driver and a boy, Julien, help her collect her books that the others have thrown into a puddle. To cheer Sophie up, Julien gives her a small tin box, a gift from his fatally ill mother. Because it is important to him, he asks her to lend it back to him from time to time. As Julien wants the box back at the moment he gave it to her, Sophie demands proof of how important it is to him. Yann Samuell
Yann Samuell (born 7 June 1965) is a French film director and screenwriter. Life and career Samuell went to film school and was a storyboard artist before becoming a director. He had his directing debut in 2003 with '' Love Me If You Dare.'' His second film was the romantic comedy ''My Sassy Girl'' (2008). Additional works include '' L'âge de raison'' (2010). Samuell was screenwriter and director of a 2011 adaptation of Louis Pergaud's popular novel, ''La guerre des boutons.'' This adaptation is set in the 1960s, with the Algerian War as a backdrop. A dare game is a game in which people dare each other to perform actions that they would not normally do. Gameplay The game is played by two or more players. A player asks another to do something that one would not normally do or even think of doing themselves. The request may come in the form of "I dare you to..." or "Can you ...?". In order to stay in the game, one must perform the task they are dared to do. If a player refuses to do the challenge or fails to complete it, they lose and are out of the game. Often, losers are given nicknames like "loser" or "chicken". Risks The game may involve dangerous or unhealthy tasks.
