Lloyd D. Jackson Square, or simply Jackson Square, is an indoor shopping mall, commercial, and entertainment complex located in the downtown core of Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, which is named after Lloyd Douglas Jackson, who served as mayor of the city from 1950 to 1962. The civic square is located in the centre of the city, bounded by several major roads: King Street (south), Bay Street (west), York Boulevard (north) and James Street (east), with the appointed address being 2 King Street West. The mall opened in 1972. King Street is a Lower City arterial road in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, also known as Highway 8. The western-end starts off beside McMaster University Medical Centre as a two-way street and passes through Westdale. At Paradise Road, King Street switches over to a one-way street (westbound) right through the city's core up to "the Delta", a spot in town where King and Main streets intersect. 1 James Street North is a 5-storey low-rise office building in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. The building was completed in 1972, and is part of the Lloyd D. Jackson Square complex. The building was originally named the Bank of Montreal Pavilion, after the Bank of Montreal, the building's original anchor tenant. History In 1972, when the Pavilion was constructed, the Bank of Montreal occupied the entire building. However, in 1997, BMO left the building and moved to a new location at the corner of Main and Bay streets, leaving the entire building vacant for almost 18 years. In 2014, McMaster University discovered that the courthouse that they were leasing from the city of Hamilton was to be converted back into a courthouse, and that the university would have to vacate the building. 100 King Street West, formerly known as Stelco Tower, is the third tallest building in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. The , 25-storey office skyscraper was completed in 1972, and is part of the larger Lloyd D. Jackson Square complex. History The tower was built as the head office of Stelco, Canada's largest steel producer and one of Hamilton's largest employers. The company used the tower to demonstrate the versatility of steel and to showcase its newest development, "'' Stelcoloy''"; a specialised steel alloy designed to slowly rust over time. The Hamilton Convention Centre is a full service convention, exhibition, and event facility located in downtown Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.
