The Ambassador of the United Kingdom to Estonia is the United Kingdom's foremost diplomatic representative in the Republic of Estonia, and head of the UK's diplomatic mission in Tallinn. The official title is ''His Britannic Majesty's Ambassador to the Republic of Estonia''. The United Kingdom first recognised Estonian independence during the Russian Civil War, and the two countries exchanged envoys for over twenty years. The United Kingdom refused to recognise the Soviet Union's unilateral annexation of Estonia in 1940, and the ''de facto'' non-independence caused the UK to close its mission and sever diplomatic ties with Estonia as a result. In 1991, upon restoration of ''de facto'' independence, the United Kingdom reestablished diplomatic links with Estonia, and the two countries resumed their exchange of ambassadors. Peter Carter (diplomat)
Peter Leslie Carter (19 November 1956 – 2 September 2014) was a British diplomat who served as the British Deputy High Commissioner to Nigeria from 2012 until his death in 2014. He was previously Her Britannic Majesty's Ambassador to the Republic of Estonia from 2007 until 2012. Carter was educated at The Skinners' School in Tunbridge Wells, Kent, and attended New College, Oxford, where he studied Modern Languages. He then worked for Arthur Andersen before moving to Italy, where he became a language teacher. In 1984, he joined HM Diplomatic Service with postings at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in London and New Delhi, and in 1996 went to Brussels, where he became responsible for the EU's Middle East policy. He returned to London in 1998, where he negotiated the deal between North Korea and the United Kingdom which established diplomatic relations between the two countries. Nigel Haywood
Nigel Robert Haywood (born 17 March 1955) is a British diplomat, who served as British ambassador to Estonia from 2003 until 2008 and Governor of the Falkland Islands from 2010 until 2014. Early life Haywood was born in Betchworth, Surrey, but moved to his mother's native Cornwall when he was nine, following the death of his father. Educated at Truro School, Haywood studied English at New College, Oxford and then attended the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst before going back to Oxford to study linguistics, eventually becoming a Member of the Chartered Institute of Linguists. Charles De Chassiron (UK Diplomat)
Charles Richard Lucien de Chassiron, (27 April 1948 – 5 April 2018) was a British diplomat. He was educated at Rugby School and Jesus College, Cambridge University, where he studied history. He held a Kennedy Scholarship at Harvard, where he received a Master in Public Administration (MPA) degree. He joined the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) in 1971. He was Economic and Commercial Secretary at the British Embassy in Brasilia between 1982 and 1985. Over the course of his FCO career, he was the Head of South America Department (19871989), Commercial and Economic Counsellor in Italy (19891994), Ambassador to Estonia (19941997), Consul-General in Milan (19972001) and Director of Protocol and Vice-Marshal of the Diplomatic Corps (20022006).
