Silves, Amazonas
Silves or Ilha de Silves is an island municipality in the state of Amazonas, northern Brazil. It is located 10 km straight line north or about 40 km by water from the Amazon River, east of Manaus (almost halfway between that city and the Amazonas-Pará state border). Its population was 9,230 (2020) and its area is .IBGE /ref> History Silves is one of the oldest municipalities in the state of Amazonas. It was established in 1660 (some sources say 1663) as a Jesuit Indian mission, the ''aldea'' of Santa Cruz. It was abandoned a year later when Jesuits were evicted from the area for failure to cooperate with Portuguese slave raiders. In 1685, it was reestablished by Mercedarian Theodozio da Viega at the same site and known by the name of ''aldea'' de Saracá (named for the lake). Parintins
Parintins is a municipality in the far east of the Amazonas state of Brazil. It is part of a microregion also named Parintins. The population for the entire municipality was 115,363 (IBGE 2020) and its area is 5,952 km2. The city is located on Tupinambarana island in the Amazon River. Parintins is known for the Parintins Folklore Festival, a popular festival held there each June and depicting Boi-Bumbá. It was also the site of an experimental deployment of WiMAX, sponsored by Intel, in late 2006. It is served by Júlio Belém Airport. Maués
Maués is a municipality located in the Brazilian state of Amazonas. Its population was 65,040 (2020) and its area is 39,988 km². Geography and location Maués is known as the "Land of Guaraná". There are sandy beaches, and Maues summer festival and Guarana festival. The Mundurucus and Maues Indians cultivated the guarana fruit, which is the basis for the famous Brazilian soft drink. Maués means "talking parrots" and it is originated from one of the Indian clans in the region. Maués has 22.000 inhabitants with another 20.000 natives spread along 140 river villages. Manacapuru (''Munychapur'') is a municipality located in the Brazilian state of Amazonas. Population The population of Manacapuru was 98,502 (2020) and its area is 7,329 km². Iranduba
Iranduba is a municipality located in the Brazilian state of Amazonas. The population of Iranduba in 2020 was 49,011 and its area is 2,215 km², making it the smallest municipality in Amazonas in terms of area. It is located south and west of Manaus on the right bank of the Rio Negro and the left bank of the Solimões River. It is connected to Manaus by the Manaus Iranduba Bridge, a cable-stayed bridge which opened in 2011.
