Lisa Gutkin
Lisa Gutkin is an American violinist, singer and songwriter of The Klezmatics. She played in Sting's The Last Ship, had a cameo appearance in “Sex and the City,” and is a MacDowell Fellow at the MacDowell Colony. Lisa appears on hundreds of recordings including ''From Here On In'', a CD of her original songs produced by John Lissauer, and ''Play Klezmer Fiddle!'', an instructional DVD. She has co-authored songs with Woody Guthrie, Anne Sexton, and Maggie Dubris, and composed for symphony orchestra, dance, and film. She is the Co-Music Director and Co-Composer for the Broadway show "Indecent (play)" which won 2 Tony Awards for ''Best Direction of a Play'' and ''Best Lighting Design of a Play'' in 2017. Rod MacDonald
Rod MacDonald (born August 17, 1948) is an American singer-songwriter, novelist, and educator. He was a "big part of the 1980s folk revival in Greenwich Village clubs", performing at the Speakeasy, The Bottom Line, Folk City, and the "Songwriter's Exchange" at the Cornelia Street Cafe. He co-founded the Greenwich Village Folk Festival, now a non-profit, and is still the President and co-producer of its events. Post-production is part of the process of filmmaking, video production, audio production, and photography. Post-production includes all stages of production occurring after principal photography or recording individual program segments. Brambus Records is a small record label based in Chur, Switzerland. It was founded 1988 by Paul Rostetter. In 2013, Brambus Records celebrated 25 years of existence and his 270th released production. The record label is focused on international folk/songwriter and jazz, especially from Switzerland. Shanachie Records
Shanachie Records is an American, New Jersey-based record label, founded in 1975 by Richard Nevins and Dan Collins. The label is named for the Gaelic word '' seanchaí'' (anglicised as shanachie), an Irish storyteller. It was previously distributed by Entertainment One Distribution. Starting as a label that specialized in fiddle music, they began releasing work by Celtic groups such as Planxty and Clannad. Other genres on the label include Latin American, African music, soul, country and ska. In 1989 they acquired Yazoo Records from Nick Perls. Joshua Nelson is an American gospel singer and Hebrew teacher. Biography Background Joshua Nelson is Black and Jewish and he goes by the nickname “the prince of kosher gospel,” and he has called himself "the KKK's worst nightmare." His grandparents emigrated to the US from Senegal, and he became fascinated with music when he was 8, while living in Brooklyn. His fascination lasted after he graduated from Newark's Performing Arts High School. Nelson was the high school's official soloist for the 4 years he studied there. He went on to do a 2-year college and kibbutz program in Israel studying at the Hebrew Union College as well as at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Pearl Gluck
Pearl Gluck is an American filmmaker and professor. Her films, which explores themes of class, gender, and faith, have appeared as a part of the Sundance Lab, as well as played at Cannes Film Festival, Tribeca Film Festival, and on PBS. Early career Gluck grew up in Borough Park, Brooklyn, New York, where she was raised in a Hasidic household. She completed her schooling with an MFA from City College of New York and a bachelor's degree from Brandeis University. Ten years after leaving her childhood home (1996), she was given a Fulbright grant in order to collect stories from the Yiddish speaking people in Hungary, an area that was once home to thriving Hasidic communities.
