Linfield is an unincorporated village, part of Limerick Township in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. It is located approximately 35 miles northwest of Philadelphia, along the Schuylkill River. Located on the Reading Railroad line to Philadelphia, Linfield was the industrial hub of Limerick Township into the 1960s. Kinseys Distillery, Sanitary Corporation of America, and Trinley Mill provided the industrial base for the area. Frances Linfield
Frances Ross Linfield was an American educator, social activist and philanthropist. In 1922, she made a gift to McMinnville College worth $250,000, prompting the school to change its name to Linfield College, in honor of her late husband, the Rev. George Fisher Linfield. In 2020, the school became Linfield University. Early life and family Frances Eleanor Ross was born in Penfield, New York, January 4, 1852. She was the daughter of Oliver Chapin and Betsey (Shearman) Ross. Her paternal ancestry traces back to William and Hannah (Hungerford) Ross who came from Barbados in 1678 to settle at Westerly, Rhode Island. Frederick Linfield
Frederick Caesar Linfield (1861 – 2 June 1939) was a British Liberal politician. He was originally in trade as a corn-merchant. Local politics Linfield first entered politics at local government level. He was a member of Worthing Council in West Sussex, having been one of the first councillors when Worthing was newly incorporated as a Borough in 1890 and was Mayor of Worthing twice from 1906-08. He was also an Alderman of the Borough. In 1907, during his mayoral term, he formally welcomed General William Booth of the Salvation Army to Worthing. He recalled that during the days when the Salvation Army was first campaigning there in the mid-1880s, it was deeply unpopular because of all the undesirables who were attracted to its banner for moral and physical sustenance. He told General Booth that he had himself hidden two Salvationists from the hostile crowds for two weeks. George Fisher Linfield
The Rev. George Fisher Linfield (1846–1890) was an American clergyman and educator. Linfield College (now Linfield University) in McMinnville, Oregon, was named in his honor. Linfield was born September 6, 1846, at Randolph, Massachusetts. He was the son of John Porter Linfield and Louisa Fisher, both descended from early New England colonists. Linfield graduated from the University of Rochester in New York, in 1873 and from the Rochester Theological Seminary in 1876. He was ordained as a Baptist minister January 4, 1877, in Moline, Illinois, where he served as pastor from 1876 to 1881. He was pastor at Muscatine, Iowa, in 1881 and 1882. He served as the principal of Wayland Academy in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, from 1882 to 1890. Linfield married Frances Eleanor Ross December 4, 1878, in Moline, Illinois. Mark Linfield (born 6 June 1968) is a British writer, producer and director of nature documentaries for cinema and television. He is best known for his work with the BBC Natural History Unit as a producer of two episodes of the television series ''Planet Earth'' (2006) and as writer and co-director of the associated feature film ''Earth'' (2007). Career Mark co-founded Wildstar Films in 2018 after 30 years of directing and producing award winning wildlife films.
