Leupoldsdorf
Leupoldsdorf is a village in the municipality of Tröstau in the district of Wunsiedel im Fichtelgebirge in Bavaria, Germany. Geography Leupoldsdorf is located in the Fichtelgebirge in the province of Upper Franconia in northeast Bavaria. The river Röslau flows through area, but numerous smaller rivers also originate here. The village is surrounded by thick forest which covers the whole of the Schneeberg massif and only opens up in the direction of Wunsiedel. In addition it lies at the foot of the ''Platte'', a mountain on which there are giant sheets (''Platten'') of granite. A somewhat lower-lying granite quarry can be seen from a long way off. Between Vordorfermühle and Leupoldsdorf is the village of Waffenhammer, a small settlement south of Röslau. The Röslau also divides the eastern half of Leupoldsdorf from the village of Leupoldsdorferhammer where there was formerly a hammer mill next to the old castle. Holenbrunn–Leupoldsdorf Railway
The Holenbrunn–Leupoldsdorf railway was built in two stages. First the Royal Bavarian State Railways decided on 15 August 1877 to link the town of Wunsiedel by a ''Lokalbahn'' (~local line) to the main line from Hof to Holenbrunn being opened at the same time, and which was extended in 1878 from Holenbrunn to Marktredwitz. On 8 November 1913 the branch line was also extended from Wunsiedel to Leupoldsdorf. It is suspected that the extension of the route was driven by the owner of the Hammer castle (''Hammerschloss'') at Leupoldsdorf, a certain "Rosa von Müller". When the line opened, however, she was no longer in residence at the ''Schloss''. On 28 September 1975 passenger services on the 11 km long route were withdrawn. In autumn 1981 the station building at Leupoldsdorf was demolished and on 23 May 1993 the line was closed. Schneeberg (Fichtelgebirge)
At , the Schneeberg is the highest mountain in the Fichtelgebirge, a mountain range in Upper Franconia in northeast Bavaria, Germany. It can be readily identified from a distance by its squat tower - a relic of the Cold War. The summit comprises a jumble of granite rocks and a rock pillar (''Felsburg'') on which the ''Backöfele'' observation tower stands and is still dominated by the relics of military installations including its Cold War listening post. The Bundesstraße 303 (abbreviation: B 303) is a German federal highway that runs from west to east, beginning at the A 7 autobahn west of Schweinfurt and ending at the border with the Czech Republic east of Schirnding. It runs through the eastern part of Lower Franconia and the whole of Upper Franconia. History The original route of '' Reichsstraße'' 303 ran from Schweinfurt via Schonungen, Hofheim in Unterfranken, Coburg, Mitwitz, Kronach and Selbitz to Hof and continued via Rehau and Eger to Mitterteich. It consists of two parts: one is a short track, from the A 8, near the Austrian border, to the Inntal Autobahn (A12) in Tyrol, Austria, the other from Hof A 72 in the north of Bavaria to Holledau A 9. Schönbrunn (Fichtelgebirge)
Schönbrunn () is a village in the heart of the Fichtelgebirge mountains in Bavaria, Germany. Since 1975 it is part of the town Wunsiedel. It has about 1,400 inhabitants, including the village Furthammer. It was founded around 1200 as a small settlement near a castle. The oldest surviving building is the church, built around 1200. Weißenstadt is a town in the district of Wunsiedel, in Upper Franconia, Bavaria, Germany.
