Legacy (Mansun Song)
"Legacy" is a song by English rock band Mansun. It was released as a single in 1998 from the group's album, ''Six'', and was the lead track on ''Eight EP''. It follows a similar template to many of the group's other hits and was also their highest-charting single, peaking at 7 in the UK Singles Chart. Overview "Legacy" was released as the first single from Mansun's second album, ''Six''. It preceded the album by three months, but is somewhat unrepresentative of the overall sound of its parent album. It bears similarities with "Wide Open Space" and " Closed for Business"; two of the band's most popular singles. The song references the Marquis de Sade. The song's name was later used as the title for the group's retrospective compilation '' Legacy: The Best of Mansun'' in 2005. The closing refrain "Nobody cares when you're gone" were later reused as the title of a documentary about the group included on DVD editions of the ''Legacy: The Best of Mansun'' compilation. Mansun
Mansun were an English alternative rock band, formed in Chester in 1995. The band comprised vocalist/rhythm guitarist Paul Draper, bassist Stove King, lead guitarist/backing vocalist Dominic Chad, and drummer Andie Rathbone. It was announced in May 2003 that the band had split up earlier that year, whilst in the process of recording their fourth album, and some of their archival recording of the album later released on their final album, ''Kleptomania'' (2004). ''Who the Fuck Are Arctic Monkeys?'' is the second EP by English rock band Arctic Monkeys, released on 24 April 2006 by Domino Recording Company. This is the band's final record to feature Andy Nicholson on bass, as he left the band a month after the EP's release. Background "The View from the Afternoon" was expected to have been the band's third single, following UK number ones "I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor" and " When the Sun Goes Down", but the band announced in March 2006 that its next record would be a five-track EP, which thereby disqualified it from being listed in the UK Singles Chart and UK Albums Chart. "Despair in the Departure Lounge" was premiered at a gig in the Great American Music Hall in San Francisco, although it was played by Alex Turner alone due to Andy Nicholson blowing his bass amplifier. Pennie Smith
Pennie Smith (born in London) is an English photographer, known for her photography of the rock music industry. She specialises in black-and-white photography. Early life Smith attended art school in Twickenham in the late 1960s, studying graphics and fine art. With others, she collaborated with graphic designer Barney Bubbles and music journalist Nick Kent in producing '' Friends'' magazine from 1969 to 1972. In 1970 she designed the sleeve for the Pink Fairies debut release ''Never Never Land''. Career Smith's first major photographic commission was to cover a 1970s Led Zeppelin tour. She went on to work at the ''NME'' as staff photographer until the early 1980s. Stephen John "Steve" Osborne (born 1963) is a British record producer, living in Bath, England. He has worked with a wide variety of musicians, including Suede, the B-52s, A-ha, New Order, Elbow, U2, Happy Mondays, Placebo, Gregory Porter, Doves, KT Tunstall, Vanessa Carlton, and Simple Minds. Career During the 1990s, Osborne was half of the Perfecto Records team, a production and remix collaboration with Paul Oakenfold; they worked with Happy Mondays, U2, and other artists. He and Oakenfold were part of the 1990s dance music act Grace which existed from 1994 to 1997. Osborne worked with Cat's Eyes on their critically acclaimed album, released in April 2011.
