Leah Vukmir
Leah Vukmir (maiden name, née Papachristou; born April 26, 1958) is an American politician and nurse who served as a member of the Wisconsin Senate. A Republican Party of the United States, Republican, she represented Wisconsin Senate, District 5, Wisconsin's 5th District. She previously served in the Wisconsin Assembly. Vukmir was the Republican nominee in the 2018 United States Senate election in Wisconsin, 2018 U.S. Senate election in Wisconsin, running unsuccessfully against incumbent Democratic Party (United States), Democrat Tammy Baldwin. In March 2019, Vukmir became vice president of state affairs at the National Taxpayers Union. Wisconsin Senate, District 5
The 5th Senate district of Wisconsin is one of 33 districts in the Wisconsin State Senate. Located in southeast Wisconsin, the district is composed of parts of western Milwaukee County, and eastern Waukesha County. It includes the cities of Brookfield, New Berlin, and Wauwatosa, as well as most of the city of West Allis. Jon Erpenbach
Jon B. Erpenbach (born January 28, 1961) is an American politician serving as a Democratic member of the Wisconsin Senate, representing the 27th District since 1999. Early life, education and career Erpenbach was born in Middleton, Wisconsin and graduated from Middleton High School. He attended the University of Wisconsin–Oshkosh from 1979 to 1981. He worked as a radio personality on two Madison area radio stations and also worked for a Milwaukee station. He subsequently worked in both the State Assembly and Senate in media relations and as communications director. Wisconsin Senate Erpenbach was elected to represent the 27th Senate District in November 1998 and was re-elected in 2002, 2006, 2010, and 2014. Medical Cannabis
Medical cannabis, or medical marijuana (MMJ), is cannabis and cannabinoids that are prescribed by physicians for their patients. The use of cannabis as medicine has not been rigorously tested due to production and governmental restrictions, resulting in limited clinical research to define the safety and efficacy of using cannabis to treat diseases. Preliminary evidence has indicated that cannabis might reduce nausea and vomiting during chemotherapy and reduce chronic pain and muscle spasms. Regarding non-inhaled cannabis or cannabinoids, a 2021 review found that it provided little relief against chronic pain and sleep disturbance, and caused several transient adverse effects, such as cognitive impairment, nausea, and drowsiness. Dale Kooyenga (born February 12, 1979) is an American C.P.A. and Republican politician from Waukesha County, Wisconsin. He was a member of the Wisconsin State Senate from 2019 through 2022, representing the 5th Senate district. Wauwatosa (; known informally as Tosa; originally Wau-wau-too-sa or Hart's Mill) is a city in Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, United States.
