Alexander Lawton
Alexander Robert Lawton (November 4, 1818 – July 2, 1896) was a lawyer, politician, diplomat, and Brigadier General (CSA), brigadier general in the Confederate States Army during the American Civil War. Early life Lawton was born in the Beaufort County, South Carolina, Beaufort District of South Carolina. He was the son of Alexander James Lawton and Martha Mosse. He graduated from the United States Military Academy in 1839, placing 13th out of 31 in his class. He served as a second lieutenant#United States, second lieutenant in the 1st U.S. Artillery until resigning his commission in 1840 to study law. He attended the Harvard Law School, graduating in 1842. He settled in Savannah, Georgia, and entered the fields of law, railroad administration, and state politics. John Lawton (musician)
John Cooper Lawton (11 July 1946 – 29 June 2021) was a British rock and blues vocalist best known for his work with Lucifer's Friend, Uriah Heep and the Les Humphries Singers. Biography Lawton began his musical career in North Shields, England, in the early '60s with The Deans, a bunch of kids who decided at random that he should be singer. He then moved on to West One and later Stonewall which included John Miles, Vic Malcolm (later of Geordie) and Paul Thompson (later of Roxy Music). After Stonewall finished their stint at Top Ten Club in Hamburg in 1969, Lawton decided to stay in Germany, after having been offered the job as singer with legendary German rock cult band Lucifer's Friend (1969–1976 and 1979–1995) with whom he recorded seven studio albums. He also joined the Les Humphries Singers, in the early '70s (which included the Eurovision Song Contest in '76). Will Lawton (born 24 June 1974) is a British singer-songwriter, pianist, hang player, and music therapist. He has been the song-writing force behind four EPs and six studio albums. John Henry Goldfrap (1879 – November 21, 1917) was an English-born journalist and author of boys' books, participating in the " American series phenomenon". He always wrote under pseudonyms. Biography John Goldfrap was a member of the staff of the ''Evening World''. He was born in England and worked first at San Francisco newspapers before moving to New York in 1905. In addition to his children's stories and newspaper work, Goldfrap wrote movie scripts. Goldfrap died on November 21, 1917, at Seaside Hospital, Staten Island, from tuberculosis. He left a widow. Tommy Lawton
Thomas Lawton (6 October 1919 – 6 November 1996) was an English football player and manager. A strong centre-forward with excellent all-round attacking skills, he was able to head the ball with tremendous power and accuracy. Born in Farnworth and raised in Bolton, he played amateur football at Rossendale United, before he turned professional at Burnley on his 17th birthday. He also played cricket for Burnley Cricket Club, before his potential as a footballer won him a £6,500 move to Everton in January 1937. He went on to finish as the First Division's top-scorer in 1938 and 1939, helping Everton to finish as champions of the Football League in the latter campaign.
