Lakselv
( sme, Leavdnja; fkv, Lemmijoki) is the largest village and administrative centre of Porsanger Municipality in Troms og Finnmark county, Norway. The village lies at the southern end of the large Porsangerfjorden. The village has a population (2017) of 2,283 which gives the village a population density of . There are a number of shops and supermarkets in Lakselv, as well as private and public sector services that cater for the village and its surrounding settlements. Lakselv Church is located in the center part of the village. Transportation The European route E6 highway runs through the village. Lakselv Airport, Banak
Lakselv Airport ( no, Lakselv lufthavn; ) is an international airport located at Banak, north of Lakselv, in the municipality of Porsanger, Troms og Finnmark county, Norway. Co-located with the military Station Group Banak, the airport is owned and operated by the state-owned Avinor. The airport is also branded as North Cape Airport, although the North Cape is away, and the nearest airport is Honningsvåg Airport, Valan. The runway is long and aligned nearly north–south. The airport is served by Danish Air Transport with daily direct flights to Tromsø. Weekly Scandinavian Airlines offer direct flights from Lakselv to Oslo, in addition to sesonally international charter services. The airport had 71,763 passengers in 2012. Lakselv Church
Lakselv Church ( no, Lakselv kirke) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Porsanger Municipality in Troms og Finnmark county, Norway. It is located in the village of Lakselv. It is one of the churches for the Porsanger parish which is part of the Indre Finnmark prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Nord-Hålogaland. The white, wooden church was built in a long church style in 1963 using plans drawn up by the architect Eyvind Moestue. The church seats about 400 people. History The first chapel in Lakselv was built in 1865. It was constructed by local volunteer labor and it was consecrated on 2 October 1865. The small chapel measured about and it did not have an altarpiece for the first several decades in its existence. In 1897, the altarpiece from Kistrand Church was gifted to Lakselv chapel. Banak is a small peninsula in Porsanger Municipality in Finnmark county, Norway. It juts into the Vestbotn bay of the vast Porsangerfjorden. European Route E6
European route E6 ( no, Europavei 6, sv, Europaväg 6, or simply E6) is the main north-south thoroughfare through Norway as well as the west coast of Sweden. It is long and runs from the southern tip of Sweden at Trelleborg, into Norway and through almost all of the country north to the Arctic Circle and Nordkapp. The route ends in Kirkenes close to the Russian border.
