La Luna (2011 Film)
''La Luna'' (, Italian and Spanish for "''The Moon"'') is a 2011 American computer-animated short film, directed and written by Enrico Casarosa in his directorial debut. The short premiered on June 6, 2011 at the Annecy International Animated Film Festival in France, and it was paired with Pixar's '' Brave'' for its theatrical release on June 22, 2012, being shown before the film's beginning. ''La Luna'' was released on November 13, 2012, on the ''Brave'' DVD and Blu-ray, and on a new ''Pixar Short Films Collection, Volume 2'', the second collection of Pixar's short films. Enrico Casarosa
Enrico Casarosa (born November 20, 1971) is an Italian-American storyboard artist, film director, and writer who works at Pixar. In 2012, he was nominated for an Academy Award for the animated short film ''La Luna (2011 film), La Luna''. In 2022, he was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature for ''Luca (2021 film), Luca'' (2021). Early life Casarosa was born in Genoa, Italy, and moved to New York City in his twenties, to study animation at the School of Visual Arts and Illustration at the Fashion Institute of Technology. Career He then worked as a background designer and storyboard artist on various Disney Channel TV series, including ''101 Dalmatians: The Series'' and ''PB&J Otter''. Osvaldo Cavandoli (1 January 1920 – 3 March 2007), also known by his pen name Cava, was an Italian cartoonist. His most famous work is his series of short animated cartoons, '' La Linea'' ("The Line"). Early life, family and education Cavandoli was born in Maderno sul Garda, Italy, on the shores of Lake Garda. He and his family moved to Milan when he was two years old.
