Ioana Mihăilă (born 20 November 1980) is a Romanian politician and endocrinologist from USR PLUS, who has been the Minister of Health of Romania since 21 April 2021. Being specialized in endocrinology since 2010, she is a member of the Romanian Endocrinology Society (). She spent her childhood in a small village from Lăzăreni, Bihor County; moved to Cluj-Napoca in 1999 and studied at the Iuliu Hațieganu University of Medicine and Pharmacy between 1999 and 2005. She has been a member of USR PLUS since 26 October 2018 and was appointed as secretary of state in the Ministry of Health by incumbent Prime Minister Florin Cîțu, being proposed by USR PLUS for the position of Minister of Health on 21 April 2021. Bihor County
Bihor County (, ) is a county (județ) in western Romania. With a total area of , Bihor is Romania's 6th largest county geographically and the main county in the historical region of Crișana. Its capital city is Oradea (Nagyvárad). Toponymy The origin of the name Bihor is uncertain, except that it likely takes its name from an ancient fortress in the current commune of Biharia. It possibly came from ''vihor'', the Serbian and Ukrainian word for "whirlwind" (вихор), or Slavic ''biela hora'', meaning "white mountain". Another theory is that Biharea is of Daco-Thracian etymology (''bi'' meaning "two" and ''harati'' "take" or "lead"), possibly meaning two possessions of land in the Duchy of Menumorut (Ménmarót). Crișana (, , ) is a geographical and historical region of Romania named after the Criș (Körös) River and its three tributaries: the Crișul Alb, Crișul Negru, and Crișul Repede.
