Løkjelsvatnet
Løkjelsvatnet or Lykilsvatnet is a regulated lake in the municipality of Etne in Vestland county, Norway. The lake lies about east of the village of Etnesjøen. Water from the lake falls vertically in tunnels and pipelines to the Hardeland hydroelectric power station. The site is operated by Haugaland Kraft. The Haugesund section of the Norwegian Mountain Touring Association operates the Løkjelsvatn cabin on the west shore of the lake, and there are marked maintain paths connecting the area to the rest of a nationwide network of paths. The lake has a rich population of brown trout which is popular among fishermen. A group of eleven domesticated reindeer were introduced to the Etnefjellet mountain area in 1990, and the herd has adopted the Løkjelsvatnet lake area as its main habitat. Etne is a List of municipalities of Norway, municipality in Vestland county, Norway. It is located in the Traditional districts of Norway, traditional district of Sunnhordland, although it is also sometimes considered to be part of the district of Haugaland. The administrative centre of the municipality is the village of Etnesjøen. Other villages in the municipality include Skånevik (village), Skånevik and Fjæra. Etnesjøen or Etne is the administrative centre of Etne municipality in Vestland county, Norway. The village is located at the inner end of the Etnefjorden, along the European route E134 highway, about south of the village of Skånevik and about northeast of the village of Ølensjøen (in neighboring Vindafjord municipality). Hardeland Hydroelectric Power Station
Hardeland hydroelectric power station is a power plant in Etne in western Norway. The site is owned and operated by Haugaland Kraft. The station uses water from two sets of reservoirs. Hardeland H is a 400 m vertical fall from Løkjelsvatnet, while Hardeland K uses Grindheimsvatnet, Ilsvatnet, Basurde-/Krokavatnet and Hjørnås via a 305 m fall from the Hjørnås lake. Hardeland is connected to the grid with a 22 kV line to Litledalen. The Norwegian Trekking Association (, DNT) is a Norwegian association which maintains mountain trails and cabins in Norway. The association was founded on 21 January 1868 with the scope "to help and develop tourism in this country".
