Lív Bentsdóttir Zachariasen (born 28 June 2004) is a Faroese handball player for Ajax København and the Faroese national team. Career In May 2024, she and her sister Var Bentsdóttir Zachariasen signed a 1 year-contract with Ajax København. participated in the Faroese national team's first ever appearance at a major international tournament; the 2024 European Women's Handball Championship in Hungary, Switzerland and Austria, placing 17th overall. Ajax København is a handball club based in southwestern Copenhagen, Denmark, consisting of both a women's and a men's team. As of the 2022–23 season, the women's team compete in 1st Division, the second highest women's league in Denmark. Hondbóltsfelagið H71 is a Faroese women's handball club from Hoyvík currently competing in the Faroese Women's Handball League (SMS Deildin). The team is the women's section of Hondbóltsfelagið H71. They also competed in the 2024–25 Women's EHF European Cup. In the 2024–25, the team finished 4th in the regular standings. Faroe Islands Women's National Handball Team
The Faroe Islands women's national handball team are the women's team for the Faroe Islands. In June 2017 the team advanced for the first time from the Qualification Phase 1 to Phase 2 of the European Women's Handball Championship qualification, when they won both matches in their group in the 2018 European Women's Handball Championship qualification which were against Greece and Finland. Faroe Island qualified for the territory's first European Women's Handball Championship in 2024. The same way they qualified for their first World Women's Handball Championship in 2025. Handball
Handball (also known as team handball, European handball, Olympic handball or indoor handball) is a team sport in which two teams of seven players each (six outcourt players and a goalkeeper) pass a ball using their hands with the aim of throwing it into the goal of the opposing team. A standard match consists of two periods of 30 minutes, and the team that scores more goals wins. Modern handball is played on a court of , with a goal in the middle of each end. 2024 European Women's Handball Championship
The 2024 European Women's Handball Championship was held in Austria, Hungary and Switzerland from 28 November to 15 December 2024. This was the first tournament to feature 24 teams. Norway were the two time defending champions and defended their title once again with a win over Denmark. SMS Deildin is the highest league in the league system of women's handball on the Faroe Islands.
