Långängsbanan
Stocksund railway station, ''Stocksunds station'', is a railway station at Roslagsbanan, serving Stocksund in Danderyd Municipality, a bit north of Stockholm. Stocksund station is now a simple railway stop, where only the trains on the way between Stockholm Östra station and Näsbypark stop. It is situated 4.6 km from Stockholm Östra station. History The original Stocksund station was situated some hundred metres to the south east of the present one and was opened in 1890. The station building there was built in 1904. was the architect for this and other station buildings along Roslagsbanan. Roslagsbanan
Roslagsbanan () is a Narrow-gauge railway, narrow-gauge commuter railway system in Roslagen, Stockholm County, Sweden. Its combined route length is and there are 38 stations. It is built to the Swedish three foot gauge railways, Swedish three foot () gauge. The SL (Stockholm), Storstockholms Lokaltrafik (SL) classifies it as "light rail" in its maps. The line starts in Stockholm at Stockholm East Station, Stockholm Östra station. It goes north and splits into three branch lines at the junction stations Djursholms Ösby and Roslags Näsby; the three branches terminate at Näsbypark, Österskär and Kårsta. It is double track between Stockholm and Viggbyholm and between Rydbo and Åkersberga. Stocksund () is an upper-class suburb in Metropolitan Stockholm, Sweden. Located immediately across the Edsviken and Stocksundet from Bergshamra, Stocksund is one of four parts of Danderyd Municipality north of Stockholm, which is the most affluent municipality of Sweden. Average real estate prices for houses are the highest in Sweden, similar to the neighbouring Djursholm. It was the site of the Stocksund Studios film and television studios based in a former power station. Danderyd Municipality
Danderyd Municipality (; ) is a municipality north of Stockholm in Stockholm County in east central Sweden. It is one of the smallest municipalities of Sweden, but the most affluent. Its seat is located in Djursholm and it is located within Stockholm urban area. The "old" rural municipality Danderyd was split up during the early 20th century, when Djursholm and Stocksund broke away in 1901 and 1910 respectively. Since 1971 Danderyd Municipality is reunified in approximately the old boundaries. The population in 2019 was 32,857. Näsbypark is a district in Täby Municipality, north of Stockholm, Sweden. Geography Näsbypark is located in the extreme southeastern part of the municipality next to Stora Värtan, an inlet of the Baltic Sea. Långängen is a residential area in Stocksund in Danderyd Municipality in Sweden. It used to have service by a tramway connected to Stocksund railway station at Roslagsbanan but is now serviced with buses instead. Djursholm () is one of four suburban districts in, and the seat of Danderyd Municipality, Stockholm County, Sweden. Djursholm is included in the multi-municipal Stockholm urban area. The Stockholm tramway network forms part of the public transport system in Stockholm, the capital city of Sweden. Beginning with horse trams in 1877, the Stockholm tram network reached its largest extent in 1946. Many of the former suburban tram lines became parts of the Stockholm Metro between the years 1950-1964. Gauge Conversion
Track gauge conversion is the changing of one railway track gauge (the distance between the running rails) to another. In general, requirements depend on whether the conversion is from a wider gauge to a narrower gauge or vice versa, on how the rail vehicles can be modified to accommodate a track gauge conversion, and on whether the gauge conversion is manual or automated. Sleepers If tracks are converted to a narrower gauge, the existing timber sleepers (ties) may be used. However, replacement is required if the conversion is to a significantly wider gauge. Stocksundet
Stocksundet is a strait in Stockholm County in Sweden. It connects the Edsviken sea inlet, to the west, with the Lilla Värtan strait and eventually the Baltic Sea, to the east. The strait also forms the border between the suburb of Stocksund in Danderyd Municipality, to the north, and the suburb of Bergshamra in Solna Municipality, to the south. The strait is approximately long and varies in width between and , whilst its depth varies between and . Stocksundet is supposed to have received its name from the logs (Swedish: "stock") which used to be laid out in the water to stop invading ships in the Early Middle Ages. This name then led to the place name of ''Stocksund'', on the north side of the sound, and to the heraldry shield of the then Stocksund Municipality between 1955 and 1966.
