Lázaro Cárdenas
Lázaro Cárdenas del Río (; 21 May 1895 – 19 October 1970) was a Mexican army officer and politician who served as president of Mexico from 1934 to 1940. Previously, he served as a general in the Constitutional Army during the Mexican Revolution and as Governor of Michoacán and President of the Institutional Revolutionary Party. He later served as the Secretariat of National Defense (Mexico), Secretary of National Defence. During his presidency, which is considered the end of the Maximato, he implemented massive Land reform in Mexico, land reform programs, led the Mexican oil expropriation, expropriation of the country's oil industry, and implemented many key social reforms. Lázaro Cárdenas Batel
Lázaro Cárdenas Batel (born 2 April 1964) is a Mexican politician. He served as governor of Michoacán from 2002 to 2008, representing the Party of the Democratic Revolution (PRD). Prior to his election to that office in 2001, he had represented his home state in both the federal Chamber of Deputies and the Senate. Cárdenas Batel is a member of a distinguished political family: his grandfather, Lázaro Cárdenas del Río, served as President of Mexico from 1934 to 1940, and his father, Cuauhtémoc Cárdenas, has been a presidential candidate on three occasions and was the first democratically elected Head of Government of the Federal District (Mexico City). Both father and grandfather also served as governors of Michoacán. The Port of Lázaro Cárdenas () is the largest Mexican seaport and one of the largest seaports in the Pacific Ocean basin, with an annual traffic capacity of around 25 million tonnes of cargo and 2,200,000 TEU. In November 2003, the Mexican Navy seized the port from criminal gangs. Description Lázaro Cárdenas is home to a deep-water seaport that handles container, dry bulk, and liquid cargo. The port currently has one container terminal, which handled 1.24 million TEU in 2012, and has a total capacity of 2.2 million TEU annually.
