László Komár
László Komár (28 November 1944 – 17 October 2012) was a Hungarian rock and roll singer. His most popular songs include "No Miss", "Mondd kis kócos", "Táncoló fekete lakkcipők" and "Mambo Italiano". During his career, he released 18 studio albums. He has sold an overall 3 million records. Born in 1944 in Adásztevel, he was the singer of from 1962 to 1965, which is considered to have been the first rock and roll band in Hungary. In 1966, he took part in the first edition of '' Táncdalfesztivál''. Heavily influenced by Elvis Presley, Komár was widely described as "the Hungarian Elvis". In 2011, he was presented with a lifetime achievement award by Hungaroton Hungaroton is the oldest record and music publisher company in Hungary. Hungaroton was founded in 1951, when its only competitors in the Hungarian music market were record labels like Melodiya, Supraphon and from other socialist countries. P .... Adásztevel
Adásztevel is a village in Veszprém county, Hungary. Initially, the settlement was known singly by the latter part of its name, attested as ''Tuel'' in 1180. A 1373 record calls it ''Adastewyl''. The origin of the prefix is obscure. It may come from the word ''ádáz'', meaning 'ferocious'. The suffix is simply from the old personal name Tevel, which is possibly the combination of ''tesz'' ('do') and the diminutive suffix ''-l''. A grandson of Árpád was called this. At the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century, Jews lived in the village. In 1840, 149 Jews lived in the village and there was a Jewish cemetery there. Táncdalfesztivál
''Táncdalfesztivál'' (literally ''Festival of dance music'') was a series of Hungarian pop music competitions and exhibition shows, airing on the National Television from 1966 to 1994. Significance In a country with only one television channel, Táncdalfesztivál was the premier chance for young musicians to showcase their skills and become well known in the Hungary of the '60s. It was the starting point in the career of the era's most popular performers, like Kati Kovács, Pál Szécsi, Klári Katona or Zsuzsa Koncz. As television sets were just becoming widespread, it also meant a good opportunity to musicians already popular from the radio, but never seen performing live. Performers who gained fame through the show include Éva Mikes, Mária Toldy, Katalin Sárosi, János Koós, and László Aradszky.
