Lynn Williams (soccer)
Lynn Williams Biyendolo (born Lynn Raenie Williams; May 21, 1993) is an American professional soccer player who plays as a forward for Seattle Reign FC of the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) and the United States national team. The NWSL's all-time leading scorer, she was drafted out of Pepperdine University by the Western New York Flash in 2015. Biyendolo won the NWSL's Most Valuable Player award and her first NWSL Championship with the Flash in 2016. After the franchise moved to become the North Carolina Courage, she helped lead North Carolina to three consecutive NWSL Shields and two Championships in 2018 and 2019. After five seasons in North Carolina, she was traded to the Kansas City Current and then flipped to NJ/NY Gotham FC, where she won her fourth championship in 2023. 2018 NWSL Championship
The 2018 National Women's Soccer League season was the sixth season of the National Women's Soccer League, the top division of women's soccer in the United States. Including the NWSL's two professional predecessors, Women's Professional Soccer (2009–2011) and the Women's United Soccer Association (2001–2003), it was the twelfth overall season of FIFA and USSF-sanctioned top division women's soccer in the United States. The league is operated by the United States Soccer Federation and receives major financial backing from that body. Further financial backing is provided by the Canadian Soccer Association. The NWSL Shield is an annual award given to the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) team with the best regular season record as determined by the NWSL points system. The NWSL Shield has been awarded annually since 2013 and is recognized as a major trophy by the league. The North Carolina Courage and Seattle Reign FC, each with three NWSL Shields since the league's inception in 2013, are tied as of 2023 for the most shields won by any NWSL team. 2016 NWSL Championship
The 2016 NWSL Championship was the fourth edition of the NWSL Championship, the championship match of the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL), and took place on October 9, 2016. It was contested between the Washington Spirit and the Western New York Flash to decide the champion of the 2016 season. The match was played at BBVA Compass Stadium in Houston, Texas. Both teams reached the final by winning their semifinal matches in extra time. The championship game was tied 1–1 after regulation with early goals scored by Crystal Dunn and Sam Mewis. NWSL Most Valuable Player
The NWSL Most Valuable Player award is presented annually to the best player in the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL). The National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) is a women's professional Association football, soccer league and the highest level of the United States soccer league system#Women's leagues, United States soccer league system (alongside the USL Super League). The league comprises 14 teams (16 in 2026). It is owned by the teams and sanctioned by the United States Soccer Federation. The NWSL is headquartered in Midtown Manhattan.
