Luís Seoane
Luis Seoane (1910–1979) was a lithographer and artist. Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on June 1, 1910, of Galician immigrants, he spent much of his childhood and youth in Galicia (Spain). He was educated in A Coruña. His first exhibition was held in 1929. He is usually included in the group of Os renovadores, the renovators of Galician art in the first third of the 20th century. Returning to Argentina in 1936 to escape the Spanish Civil War, Seoane became an important cultural figure in Buenos Aires, where he was responsible for the creation of a number of murals and other public works of art. On his return to Galicia in 1960, he became a leading figure within the movement to revive Galician culture. He died in A Coruña in 1979. The Royal Galician Academy (, RAG) is an institution dedicated to the study of Galician culture and especially the Galician language; it promulgates norms of grammar, spelling, and vocabulary and works to promote the language. Lorenzo Varela
Xesús Manuel Lorenzo Varela Vázquez (August 10, 1916 in Havana – November 25, 1978 in Madrid) was a Galician poet who spent most of his adult life in exile in Argentina. Life and work Varela was born in Havana, Cuba, in 1916 to Galician parents who were emigrating from Galicia. Although official documents cite Havana as his place of birth, many sources say that he was actually born en route to Havana, on the steamer "La Navarre", in which his parents were traveling. After spending time in Cuba and Argentina, the family returned to Galicia in 1920. Varela grew up in Lugo where he was a founding member of the Federación de Mocedades Galeguistas (Federation of Galician Youth). Xosé Luís Méndez Ferrín
Xosé Luís Méndez Ferrín (Ourense, 7 August 1938) is a Galician writer and poet and is widely considered the highest representative of contemporary Galician literature. A doctor in philology, he studied philosophy at the University of Santiago de Compostela and Romanic philology at the University of Madrid. He teaches literature at the '' Instituto Santa Irene'' in Vigo. He also writes for the daily newspaper ''Faro de Vigo'' and directs the quarterly political critic magazine '' A Trabe Ouro''.
