Luçie Miloti
Luçie Miloti (1930–2006) was an Albanian folk singer from Shkodra where she developed her interest in the area's traditional music. While still in her teens, she moved to Tirana where she performed as a soloist with the Albanian National Song and Dance Ensemble (''Ansamblit të Këngëve dhe Valleve Popullore'') over the next 30 years, releasing recordings from Radio Tirana. Biography Born on 11 May 1930 in Shkodra in Northern Albania, Miloti was brought up in a family involved in the traditional music of the city and began singing on the stage when she was just 12. Encouraged by the composer Prenkë Jakova, she began singing at Shkroda's House of Culture and performed on Radio Shkodra. Tirana
Tirana ( , ; ) is the capital and List of cities and towns in Albania, largest city of Albania. It is located in the centre of the country, enclosed by mountains and hills, with Dajti rising to the east and a slight valley to the northwest overlooking the Adriatic Sea in the distance. The Albanian National Song and Dance Ensemble () is one of Albania's oldest ongoing national-level performance groups, created in 1957 in Tirana, Albania. Radio Tirana
Radio Televizioni Shqiptar (; ; formerly TVSH , now mostly referred to as RTSH ) is the national public broadcasting company of Albania. Founded in 1938, it operates several radio and television channels, over a domestic transmitter network as well as satellite. The international television service via satellite RTSH Sat (former ''TVSH Sat'') was launched in 1993 and is aimed at Albanian-speaking communities in Kosovo, Serbia, North Macedonia, Montenegro, and northern Greece, plus the Albanian diaspora in the rest of Europe. RTSH is funded by a combination of commercial advertising, an annual licence fee of US$10.00 and grant-in-aid from the Albanian government. Prenkë Jakova
Prenk Jakova (; 27 June 191719 September 1969) was an Albanian composer, musician, and author of ''Mrika'' (1958), which is considered the first Albanian opera. A native of Shkodër, he studied under Martin Gjoka and Zef Kurti, and he was also an alumnus of the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia. A virtuoso clarinetist he worked as a music teacher for most of his life and distinguished himself as the mentor of the four most important composers of classical music from northern Albania: Çesk Zadeja, Tish Daija, Tonin Harapi, and Simon Gjoni. Jakova was the director of the music band and of the House of Culture of Shkodër. Besides ''Mrika'', Jakova also composed ''Skënderbeu'', another opera which premiered in 1968. Jorgjia Filçe-Truja
Jorgjia Filçe-Truja (20 January 1907 – 22 June 1994) was an Albanian soprano. She was one of the icons of the Albanian urban lyrical music, and one of the main contributors for the establishment of the Academy of Arts of Albania. Life She was born in Korçë, today's eastern Albania, back then still part of the Ottoman Empire on 20 January 1907. She studied in the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, Santa Сеcilia Conservatory in Rome during 1927–1932. She gave many concerts during the 1930s to the 1950s, becoming an icon of the urban lyrical music in Albania. Together with Tefta Tashko-Koço and Marie Kraja, she represented the avant-garde of the lyrical music in the country. The Jordan Misja Artistic Lyceum () is an artistic school in Tirana, Albania, for youth from 6 to 18 years old. Established in 1946, it included music, ballet, dramatic arts, painting and sculpting classes. Today it offers integrated studies of general classes and arts, music, and sculpture classes. Most Albanian professional artists are alumni of the school.
