Lundtofte Flyveplads
Lundtofte Flyveplads (Lundtofte Aerodrome) is a former airport for both military and civilian use. Currently, the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) is built on the site. The airport opened in 1917 and the last flight was in 1959. History The Royal Danish Navy, navy :da:Flyveskolen, flying school was looking for a new airfield location, since the Kløvermarken airfield they used at the time was to be closed soon due to the expansion of Copenhagen. A suitable area of around was found at Lundtofte. In March 1917, approval was given for the purchase of at the site and budget for construction of airfield facilities was reserved. Inauguration and early years The airfield was inaugurated June 22, 1917. Five aircraft would fly from the old airfield of Kløvermarken to Lundtofte and back again. Lundtofte is a neighbourhood in Lyngby-Taarbæk Municipality, located north of Kongens Lyngby. Glider (aircraft)
A glider is a fixed-wing aircraft that is supported in flight by the dynamic reaction of the air against its lifting surfaces, and whose free flight does not depend on an engine. Danish Resistance Movement
The Danish resistance movements ( da, Den danske modstandsbevægelse) were an underground insurgency to resist the German occupation of Denmark during World War II. Due to the initially lenient arrangements, in which the Nazi occupation authority allowed the democratic government to stay in power, the resistance movement was slower to develop effective tactics on a wide scale than in some other countries. Members of the Danish resistance movement were involved in underground activities, ranging from producing illegal publications to spying and sabotage. Major groups included the communist BOPA ( da, Borgerlige Partisaner, Civil Partisans) and Holger Danske, both based in Copenhagen. Some small resistance groups such as the Samsing Group and the Churchill Club also contributed to the sabotage effort. Holger Danske (resistance Group)
Holger Danske () was a Danish resistance group during World War II. It was created by veteran volunteers from the Winter War who had fought on the Finnish side against the Soviet Union. It was among the largest Danish resistance groups and consisted of around 350 volunteers towards the end of the war. The group carried out about 100 sabotage operations and was responsible for around 200 killings of informers who had revealed the identity and/or the whereabouts of members of the resistance. The group was named after the legendary Danish hero Holger Danske. History The group was formed in Copenhagen in 1942 by five men who had all fought on the Finnish side during the Winter War. Carl Henrik Clemmensen
Carl Henrik Clemmensen (28 March 1901 – 30 or 31 August 1943) was a Danish newspaper editor who was killed by three men of the Schalburg Corps, one of whom was Søren Kam. Biography Clemmensen was born in Copenhagen as the younger brother of Niels Clemmensen and as son of journalist Cand. Phil. Christian Albert Clemmensen and wife Fanny née Greibe. In addition to being a newspaper editor he wrote part of the manuscript for the 1944 comedy ''De tre skolekammerater''. On 30 August 1943 Clemmensen insulted chief editor of the pro-Nazi publication ''the Fatherland'' ( da, Fædrelandet) Poul Nordahl-Petersen. On the same evening or after midnight Clemmensen was gunned down in Lundtofte, next to Lundtofte Airfield by three different pistols firing eight bullets all impacting his head and upper body while he was standing. Piper J-3 Cub
The Piper J-3 Cub is an American light aircraft that was built between 1938 and 1947 by Piper Aircraft. The aircraft has a simple, lightweight design which gives it good low-speed handling properties and short-field performance.
