Lunds, North Yorkshire
Lunds is a hamlet in North Yorkshire, England, near to the watershed of the River Eden, Cumbria, Eden and River Ure, Ure rivers. It is on the border between Cumbria and North Yorkshire, and was at one time allocated to the West Riding of Yorkshire, West Riding, but has been traditionally treated as being in the North Riding of Yorkshire, North Riding, now North Yorkshire. History Historically the hamlet was in the parish of Aysgarth in the wapentake of Hang West. Sometimes the area was treated as the belonging to the West Riding, but Hang West was always part of the North Riding. The settlement was also referred to as either ''Holbeck Lundes'', or ''Hellbeck Lunds'' to distinguish it from South Lunds (near the Moorcock Inn, Hawes, Moorcock Inn) and Hanging Lunds, further up the valley near Mallerstang. Lund's Amphibious Rat
''Lundomys molitor'', also known as Lund's amphibious ratMusser and Carleton, 2005, p. 1124 or the greater marsh rat, is a semiaquatic rat species from southeastern South America. Its distribution is now restricted to Uruguay and nearby Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, but it previously ranged northward into Minas Gerais, Brazil, and southward into eastern Argentina. The Argentine form may have been distinct from the living form from Brazil and Uruguay. ''L. molitor'' is a large rodent, with the head and body length averaging , characterized by a long tail, large hindfeet, and long and dense fur. It builds nests above the water, supported by reeds, and it is not currently threatened. Its external morphology is similar to that of ''Holochilus brasiliensis'', and over the course of its complex taxonomic history it has been confused with that species, but other features support its placement in a distinct genus, ''Lundomys''. Within the family Cricetidae and subfamily Sigmodont ...

Lund's Bristol Ware
Bristol porcelain covers porcelain made in Bristol, England by several companies in the 18th and 19th centuries. The plain term "Bristol porcelain" is most likely to refer to the factory moved from Plymouth in 1770, the second Bristol factory. The product of the earliest factory is usually called Lund's Bristol ware and was made from about 1750 until 1752, when the operation was merged with Worcester porcelain; this was soft-paste porcelain. In 1770 the Plymouth porcelain factory, which made England's first hard-paste porcelain, moved to Bristol, where it operated until 1782. This called itself the Bristol China Manufactory. A further factory called the Water Lane Pottery made non-porcelain earthenware very successfully from about 1682 until the 1880s, and briefly made porcelain in about 1845–50. Bristol was England's second business city after London in the mid-18th century, and a major port for the Atlantic trade. It had long been, after London and together with Liverp ...

Lund's Node
The cystic node (also known as the cystic lymph node, cystic lymph node of Lund, Lund's node, or Mascagni's lymph node and often erroneously referred to as Calot's node) is the sentinel lymph node of the gall bladder. It is located within the cystohepatic triangle (Calot's triangle). Structure The cystic lymph node is situated at the neck of the gallbladder. It is invariably situated lateral to the biliary tree. The node receives lymphatic drainage from the gallbladder, cystic duct, hepatic duct, and the superior portion of the common bile duct. It in turn drains lymph into the hepatic lymph nodes. Clinical significance It increases in size in cholecystitis and cholangitis; it becomes enlarged in most cases of acute cholecystitis which serendipitously also makes it easier to identify in case of subsequent surgery. It is an anatomic landmark and may be removed along with the gallbladder in cholecystectomy. The node can be used as a landmark to prevend iatrogenic injury dur ...

Lund's Fly
''Cordylobia rodhaini'', also known as the Lund's fly, derived its common name from captain Lund, who was the first European to show symptoms of the disease caused by the larvae of the same fly. Lund's fly belongs to the genus ''Cordylobia'', flies from the family Calliphoridae. The larvae of the Lund's fly are parasites of thinned-skinned mammals, especially the Gambian rat, mona monkey and small antelopes and are only accidental parasites of humans. The adult flies feeds on rotting fruits, vegetables and animal feces, and are most abundant in the wet season. Like many tropical insects they are most active in the dark periods and have the greatest activity early in the morning and late in the evening while resting typically between 8am to 5pm. The Lund's fly are largely confined to tropical Africa, especially the rainforest areas in Sub-Saharan Africa. As a result of human migration, though, the parasitic infections they cause have been recorded in other continents, including E ...
