Lumen (unit)
The lumen (symbol: lm) is the SI unit of luminous flux, which quantifies the perceived power of visible light emitted by a source. Luminous flux differs from power (radiant flux), which encompasses all electromagnetic waves emitted, including non-visible ones such as thermal radiation (infrared). By contrast, luminous flux is weighted according to a model (a " luminosity function") of the human eye's sensitivity to various wavelengths; this weighting is standardized by the CIE and ISO. The lumen is defined as equivalent to one candela-steradian (symbol cd·sr): : 1 lm = 1 cd·sr. A full sphere has a solid angle of 4π steradians (≈ 12.56637 sr), so an isotropic light source (that uniformly radiates in all directions) with a luminous intensity of one candela has a total luminous flux of :. One lux is one lumen per square metre. Explanation If a light source emits one candela of luminous intensity uniformly across a solid angle of one steradian, the total luminous flux e ...

Lumen (dating App)
Lumen was a dating app launched in 2018 for individuals over 50, co-founded by Charly Lester. Her app attracted more than 1.5 million users in less than a year. The app operated on a freemium model, allowing users to join for free while generating revenue through paid "premium" features. These features included advanced search filters, enabling users to refine potential matches based on criteria such as height, children, smoking habits, political views, and zodiac signs. Additionally, premium users could access features like viewing who had marked them as a "favorite." To address the issue of scammers, the platform employed artificial intelligence software and implemented a "selfie" registration system. This system required users to take a live photograph during registration, which was then compared to their uploaded profile pictures to verify authenticity. Lumen gained attention as part of MagicLab’s portfolio, which was acquired by Blackstone Inc. Blackstone Inc. is an A ...

Before the official launch, McCaleb formed a website called "Secret Bitcoin Project" seeking alpha testers. The nonprofit Stellar Development Foundation was created in collaboration with Stripe CEO Patrick Collison and the project officially launched that July. Stellar received $3 million in seed funding from Stripe. Stellar was released as a decentralized payment network and protocol with a native currency, stellar. At its launch, the network had 100 billion stellars. 25 percent of those w ...

141 Lumen
141 Lumen is a carbonaceous asteroid from the intermediate asteroid belt, approximately 130 kilometers in diameter. It is an identified Eunomia family#Interlopers, Eunomian interloper. Description It was discovered on January 13, 1875, by the brothers Paul Henry and Prosper Henry, but Paul is the one who was given the credit for this discovery. It is named for ''Lumen: Récits de l'infini'', a book by the astronomer Camille Flammarion. Richard P. Binzel, Richard Binzel and Schelte J. Bus, Schelte Bus further added to the knowledge about this asteroid in a light-curve survey published in 2003. This project was known as Small Main-belt Asteroid Spectroscopic Survey, Phase II or SMASSII, which built on a previous survey of the main-belt asteroids. The visible-wavelength (0.435–0.925 micrometre) spectra data was gathered between August 1993 and March 1999. Lightcurve data has also been recorded by observers at the Antelope Hill Observatory, which has been designated as an offi ...
