Lukáš Klípa
Lukáš Klípa (born 11 March 1997) is a Czech curler. Career Juniors Klípa's first international competition came at the 2015 European Junior Challenge Competition as the alternate for the Czech team, which was skipped by Krystof Krupansky. The team finished in fifth, and Klípa would not play in any games. The European Junior Curling Challenge, which was a qualifier for the World Junior Curling Championships was replaced by the World Junior-B Curling Championships the following year. Klípa would represent his home country for the next three years as a member of the national junior team at the World Junior B Championships. He was the alternate on the Czech team (skipped by Marek Černovský) at the 2016 World Junior B Curling Championships, finishing fifth. There, Klípa played in three games. Skip (curling)
In the sport of curling, the skip is the Captain (sports), captain of a team. The skip determines strategy, and holds the Curling#Curling broom, broom in the ''house'' (target area) to indicate where a teammate at the other end of the curling ''sheet'' (playing area) should aim the stone. The skip usually throws the last two stones in the fourth position, but may play in any other position. Sometimes "skipper" is used; it can also be abbreviated as "S". It's also used as a verb ("skips", "skipped", "skipping"). It is conventional to identify a team by the name of the skip. 2024-25 Curling Season
A coxless four, abbreviated as a 4- and also called a straight four, is a racing shell used in the sport of competitive rowing. It is designed for four persons who propel the boat with sweep oars, without a coxswain. The crew consists of four rowers, each having one oar. There are two rowers on the stroke side (rower's right hand side) and two on the bow side (rower's lefthand side). As there is no coxswain, the rudder is controlled by one of the crew, normally with the rudder cable attached to the toe of one of their shoes which can pivot about the ball of the foot, moving the cable left or right. 2024 World Men's Curling Championship
The 2024 World Men's Curling Championship (65th) (branded as the 2024 LGT World Men's Curling Championship for sponsorship reasons) was held from March 30 to April 7 at the KSS Sports Complex in Schaffhausen, Switzerland. This was the first time a world curling championship had been held in Schaffhausen, as the 2021 World Women's Curling Championship was originally awarded to Schaffhausen before being relocated to Calgary, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The 2023 Le Gruyère AOP European Curling Championships took place in May and November 2023, to qualify European curling teams for the 2024 World Curling Championships. The A and B division competitions were held from November 18 to 25, with the A division being held at Curl Aberdeen in Aberdeen, Scotland, and the B division being held at Dewars Centre in Perth, Scotland. The C division competition was held from April 29 to May 6 at the Dumfries Ice Bowl in Dumfries, Scotland. 2023 World Men's Curling Championship
The 2023 World Curling Championships, World Men's Curling Championship (branded as the 2023 Balkrishna Industries, BKT Tires & OK Tire World Men's Curling Championship for sponsorship reasons) was held from April 1 to 9 at TD Place Arena, TD Place in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Ottawa was selected as the host site in June 2022. It had originally been planned for the city to host the event 2021 World Men's Curling Championship, in 2021, but the event was moved to the "Calgary bubble" due to the COVID-19 pandemic. 2022 World Men's Curling Championship
The 2022 World Men's Curling Championship (branded as the 2022 LGT World Men's Curling Championship for sponsorship reasons) was held from April 2 to April 10 at Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, United States. Team Sweden, skipped by Niklas Edin, was the defending championship team. The 2022 WMCC trialed the no-tick rule for the first time at a men's tournament at this level. In the final, Team Edin won its fourth straight world title, defeating Canada's Brad Gushue rink 8–6. It was the sixth career World title for Edin, whose team became the first ever to win an Olympic gold and World championship in the same year. In the game, Canada got off to a strong start, leading 3–0 after two. Yannick Schwaller
Yannick Schwaller (born 31 March 1995 in Solothurn) is a Swiss curler from Recherswil. He currently skips his own team out of Geneva. Career Juniors Schwaller skipped the Swiss junior men's team at three straight World Junior Curling Championships. In 2014, he led his team of Reto Keller, throwing fourth stones, Patrick Witschonke, Michael Probst and Romano Meier to a 6–3 round robin record. They then beat Italy's Amos Mosaner in a tiebreaker to qualify for the playoffs. There, they defeated Canada's Braden Calvert and Norway's Eirik Mjøen in the 3 vs. 4 page playoff and semifinal games respectively, qualifying for the final. In the final, they won 6–5 over Scotland's Kyle Smith rink to become the World Junior champions, becoming just the fifth Swiss men's team to do so. In curling, the lead is the person who delivers the first two stones of the end for their team. On most teams, where the lead does not act as skip or vice, the lead will sweep for each of their teammates shots. The 2019 Winter Universiade (), the XXIX Winter Universiade, was a multi-sport event for student and youth athletes which took place from 2 to 12 March 2019 in the Russian city of Krasnoyarsk.
