Luke Ablett
Luke Ablett (born 22 November 1982) is a former Australian rules footballer with the Sydney Swans of the Australian Football League, AFL. He is the son of former Hawthorn Football Club, Hawthorn player Kevin Ablett, and nephew of Hawthorn player Geoff Ablett and Geelong Football Club, Geelong player Gary Ablett Sr., Gary Ablett. Having played for local club Drouin, Victoria, Drouin and the Gippsland Under 18s side, Ablett was drafted by Sydney in the second round of the 2000 National Draft and made his debut in Round 13 of the 2002 season against Fremantle Football Club, Fremantle. After playing four games in both that season and the next, including two matches in the 2003 finals series, he secured a regular place in the team in 2004, and made a role for himself on his own merits as a midfielder and run-with player. The Ablett family is one of the most prominent families in Australian rules football, with many members playing in the Australian Football League, Victorian Football League/Australian Football League. Family members FRED ABLETT – The first family member with the surname Ablett to play Australian Rules Football was Frederick (Fred) William Ablett (born in 1883), he played 56 games in the West Australian Football League, WAFL from 1906 to 1910.
