Luciano Emílio
Luciano Emílio (born 12 December 1978) is a Brazilian former professional footballer who played as a striker. Career Early career Emílio started playing professional soccer at the age of 16 in 1995, playing for XV de Piracicaba, a member of the state league of São Paulo. The next season, he transferred to Rio Branco, another team in the state league of São Paulo. In 1997, Emílio signed with 1. FC Köln of the German Bundesliga. He played for the youth team and worked his way up to the senior team where he played for several matches. In 1999, Emílio transferred to Alemannia Aachen, a team in the second division of the Bundesliga. Honduras and Mexico In 2001, Luciano Emílio made a return to Brazil to play for União Barbarense. After a brief stint at União Barbarense, Emílio made a move to the Honduran league to play for Real España in Honduras. Ilha Solteira is a municipality in the state of São Paulo in Brazil. The population is 26,788 (2020 est.) in an area of 653 km². The elevation is 335 m. Designated Player Rule
The Designated Player Rule, nicknamed the Beckham Rule, allows Major League Soccer franchises to sign up to three players that would be considered outside their salary cap (either by offering the player higher wages or by paying a transfer fee for the player). The rule, which was adopted ahead of the 2007 MLS season, enables teams to compete for star players in the international football market. The rule is one of two mechanisms by which MLS teams may exceed their salary cap, the other being allocation money. As of December 2019, there have been 209 Designated Players in league history. The rule is informally named after David Beckham, in anticipation of MLS teams signing lucrative deals with internationally recognized players, after Beckham entered into negotiations to join the league. The New York Red Bulls are an American professional association football, soccer club based in the New York metropolitan area. The Red Bulls compete in Major League Soccer (MLS) as a member of the Eastern Conference (MLS), Eastern Conference. The club was established in October 1994 and began play in the league's inaugural season in 1996 as the New York/New Jersey MetroStars. A hat-trick or hat trick is the achievement of a generally positive feat three times in a match, or another achievement based on the number three. Origin The term first appeared in 1858 in cricket, to describe H. H. Stephenson taking three Wicket#Dismissing a batsman, wickets with three consecutive delivery (cricket), deliveries. Fans held a collection for Stephenson, and presented him with a hat bought with the proceeds. The term was used in print for the first time in 1865 in the Essex Chronicle, ''Chelmsford Chronicle''. The term was eventually adopted by many other sports including hockey, association football, Formula 1 racing, rugby, and water polo. 2008 MLS
The 2008 Major League Soccer season was the 13th season of Major League Soccer. It was also the 96th season of FIFA-sanctioned soccer in the United States, and the 30th with a national first-division league. The San Jose Earthquakes returned to the league, following a two-year hiatus that began after the 2005 season. The Kansas City Wizards left Arrowhead Stadium and moved to the Kansas side of the metropolitan area, occupying CommunityAmerica Ballpark in Kansas City. The league also debuted its newest soccer-specific stadium in October when Real Salt Lake opened Rio Tinto Stadium in Sandy, Utah. The regular season began on March 29, and concluded on October 26. The 2008 MLS Cup Playoffs began on October 30, and concluded with MLS Cup 2008 on November 23.
