Lucas Cruz
Lucas Cruz Senra (born 26 December 1974 in Barcelona) is a Spanish computer engineer, mostly known as a rally racing co-driver and experienced navigator. Career He started to race on 1994, when he race on the Catalonia Rally Championship. On 2001, he achieved his first victory in the Spanish Championship, together with the driver Txus Jaio on board a Ford Focus WRC, as part of the ''Carlos Sainz Junior Team''. After a few years racing on tarmac and gravel categories, he started to compete on off-road races with the driver José Luis Monterde, finishing the 2001 Dakar Rally as the first classified rookies and amateurs, driving a Nissan Patrol GR. He tackled 2006 Dakar Rally as a truck co-driver for the Volkswagen Motorsport team, partnering with driver Josep Pujol. 2009 Dakar Rally
The 2009 Dakar Rally was the 31st running of the Dakar Rally. In addition to motorcycle, automobile, and truck categories, a separate quad (all-terrain vehicle) class was added for the first time. The race began on 3 January 2009, and took place across Argentina and Chile. The rally was for the first time to take place outside of Europe and Africa as the location was changed by organizers due to concerns about possible terrorist attacks that resulted in the moving of the 2008 edition from the traditional route to Senegal to Hungary and Romania in the spring . Étienne Lavigne, the race director of the rally, first announced the new race location in February 2008 around the same time as the replacement Central Europe Rally was held for competitors. 2020 Dakar Rally
The 2020 Dakar Rally was the 42nd edition of the event and the first edition held in Saudi Arabia. The event started in Jeddah on 5 January and finished in Al-Qiddiya on 17 January after 12 stages of the competition. This was also the first event under the direction of David Castera, who replaced Etienne Lavigne when he stepped down from the role in March 2019 after 15 years in charge. Spaniard Carlos Sainz won his third Dakar with a third different make, his first with the new Mini JCW X-Raid buggy. In the motorcycle class, American Ricky Brabec became the first person from North America to win any class in the Dakar Rally. It was also the first victory for Honda since 1989 and ended a streak of 18 consecutive wins for KTM. The 2018 Dakar Rally was the 40th edition of the event and the tenth successive year that the event was in South America. The event started in Lima, Peru on 6 January and ran through Argentina and Bolivia, finishing in Córdoba, Argentina on 20 January after 14 stages of competition. Mark Miller (born October 24, 1962) is an American professional off-road racer, competing in both cars and on motorcycles. Miller was born in Phoenix, Arizona, lives both in Arizona and Colorado, and has two sons, Nick and Sam. His non-racing profession was investing, and his hobbies include enduro motorcycling, mountain bikes, fly fishing and snowmobiling. He has competed in SCORE, NASCAR, Rally, Rally-Raid and other classes and competitions. In April 2008 he competed in the 2008 Central Europe Rally, the first in the new series of events created by the promoters of the Dakar Rally. Miller was competing for the Volkswagen factory team in a diesel Touareg (#206) but crashed out of the competition on the first day. Nasser Salih Nasser Abdullah Al-Attiyah ( ar, ناصر صالح ناصر عبدالله العطية : nāṣir ṣāliḥ nāṣir ʿabdullāh al-ʿaṭṭīyah; born 21 December 1970 in Doha) is a Qatari rally driver and sport shooter. He was the 2006 Production World Rally Champion, 2014 and 2015 WRC-2 champion, a 16 time Middle East Rally Champion, five times winner of the FIA World Cup for Cross-Country Rallies, and a quadruple ( 2011, 2015, 2019, 2022) Dakar Rally winner. His four victories in the Dakar Rally make him the only Middle Easterner and West Asian to win the competition more than once. In shooting, Al-Attiyah won the bronze medal in the men's skeet event at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. 2010 Dakar Rally
The 2010 Dakar Rally was the 32nd running of the event. It was held in South America for the second successive time, and ran from 1 to 16 January. The Amaury Sport Organisation and the governments of Argentina and Chile agreed to a return to South America for the event in February 2009. Cyril Despres, riding a KTM, won the motorcycle class for the third time, winning two stages en route to victory by over an hour from any of his rivals. Second place went to another KTM rider, as Pål Anders Ullevålseter finished on the Dakar podium for the first time in his career, taking a stage win on the penultimate day. Aprilia rider Francisco López Contardo finished in third position, just under seven minutes behind Ullevålseter, taking three stage victories. Silk Way Rally
The Silk Way Rally ( rus, Шёлковый путь) is an annual rally raid type of off-road race. The first Silk Way Rally was raced in 2009 from Kazan, Russia to Ashgabat, Turkmenistan. From 2010 to 2013, the race has taken place in Russia. The 2016 edition had a Moscow-Astana-Beijing route, the 2017 edition starts in Moscow and finishes in Xi'an, China. From 2009 to 2011, the rally was part of ASO's Dakar Series. In previous editions several stages of Silk Way Rally also constituted a part of Russian Rally Championship as well as the FIA World Cup for Cross-Country Rallies. Rally Dos Sertões
Rally dos Sertões is a rally raid competition held in Brazil since 1993. Its name refers to the ''sertão'' region of countryside Brazil. History Its precursor was the "Rally São Francisco", organized in 1991 by the architect and racing enthusiast Chico Morais, inspired by the Paris-Dakar Rally. The then motorcycles-only competition started at Ribeirão Preto and finished at Maceió. The rally was first held with its current name in 1993, starting at Campos do Jordão and finishing at Natal; 34 competitors participated in the competition. The following year, 44 competitors took in. In 1995, the rally was open for automobiles and in 1996, for drivers outside Brazil. Besides bikes and cars, the rally has categories for trucks, quad bikes and UTVs. In 2005, the Rally joined the FIM Cross-Country Rallies World Championship calendar.
