Loïck Peyron
Loïck Peyron (born 1 December 1959 in Nantes) is a French yachtsman, younger brother of the yachtsman Bruno Peyron. He is particularly famous for winning many races in the 1990s on board his trimaran ''Fujicolor''. Among his notable achievements, he won the ORMA Championship four times in 1996, 1997, 1999 and 2002, the STAR transatlantic race three times, the transat Jacques Vabre twice and won the Jules Verne Trophy in 2012. After Benjamin de Rothschild gave him control of the Gitana Team in April 2006, the team built '' Gitana Eighty'', a 60 feet monohull, launched in July 2007 with which Loick Peyron won the Transat. On 9 December 2008, he began his participation in the 2008-2009 Vendée Globe with '' Gitana Eighty''. After having led the race for 16 days, ''Gitana Eightys mast broke. Franck Cammas
Franck Cammas (born 22 December 1972 in Aix-en-Provence) is a French yachtsman. He has lived in Brittany since his victory in the Challenge Espoir Crédit Agricole in 1994. After completing a two-year maths course for the ‘Grandes écoles’, as well as a piano academy, Franck Cammas finally opted for a career in sailing. In 1997, at the age of 24, he won the Solitaire du Figaro and a year later helmed his first trimaran christened '' Groupama''. Despite his late entry into competition, he is one of the most talented and respected sailors in the Ocean Racing Multihull Association world. The Solitaire du Figaro, previously called the Course de l'Aurore, is a solo multi-stage sailing race created in 1970 by Jean-Louis Guillemard and . The unique character of the race, the presence of great solo sailors and its being open to amateurs, has made it one of the most cherished races in French sailing. Barcelona World Race
The Barcelona World Race is a non-stop, round-the-world yacht race for crews of two, sailed on Open 60 IMOCA monohull boats. Following the Clipper route, it starts and finishes in Barcelona, and is organised by the Barcelona Ocean Sailing Foundation (FNOB). The inaugural race, contested in 2007–08 by nine boats, was won by Jean-Pierre Dick and Damian Foxall on the boat ''Paprec-Virbac 2'' in a time of 92 days. The Fastnet Race is a biennial offshore yacht race organised by the Royal Ocean Racing Club of the United Kingdom with the assistance of the Royal Yacht Squadron in Cowes and the City of Cherbourg in France. Éric Tabarly
Éric Marcel Guy Tabarly was a French Navy officer and yachtsman, born 24 July 1931 in Nantes and died 13 June 1998 of drowning in the Irish Sea. He developed a passion for offshore racing very early on and won several ocean races such as the Ostar in 1964 and 1976, ending English domination in this specialty. Several of his wins broke long standing records. He owed his successes to his exceptional mastery of sailing and of each one of his boats, to both physical and mental stamina and, in some cases, to technological improvements built into his boats. Through his victories, Tabarly inspired an entire generation of ocean racers and contributed to the development of nautical activities in France.
