Lower Homebush, Victoria
Homebush is a locality from Avoca in central Victoria, Australia. It is located within the Pyrenees Shire. History 1850 - 1880 First settled in 1853 after a rush to a rich claim nearby, the town reached the height of its prosperity in the 1880s. But Homebush owed its existence entirely to the mines: when the gold ran out and the mines closed the town rapidly declined and died. All that remains of a once-flourishing community is a school building and some mullock heaps. Planned development began in June 1860 when, following a second rush to the diggings, Homebush was surveyed and its streets laid out. Homebush Post Office opened on 1 October 1863 (closing in 1944). Ripon is a single member electoral district of the Victorian Legislative Assembly. It is a rural electorate based in western Victoria (Australia), Victoria. In 1946 the electoral district of Ripon was first contested but then abolished in the 1955 election after being held by Labor for seven of these years. Wareek, Victoria
Wareek is a locality which in Pyrenees Shire and the Shire of Central Goldfields. People and properties The "largest landholder and possibly the wealthiest" in the area was Charles Wilson from ''Sunny Park'' Wareek ( Coordinates ). Wilson's daughter Maude Wilson married John Miller in 1901 at Sunny Park and they then lived in the Rathscar, Victoria, Rathscar district where their four children were born. John and his brother Bill were share farmers. The ''Norwood Homestead'' on Norwood Road, Wareek, ( Coordinates ), constructed in 1863, is said to be "one of the most distinctive gothic revival houses in Victoria". The two-storey homestead is registered on the ''Register of the National Estate''. At the Wareek Hall there is an Honour Roll, of those from the Bung Bong district, who fought in World War I. Bung Bong is a locality in Victoria (Australia), Victoria between the towns of Avoca, Victoria, Avoca and Maryborough, Victoria, Maryborough. The locality is divided, with the Western section in the Pyrenees Shire and the Eastern section in Shire of Central Goldfields. Homebush Victoria, Main Street
Homebush is a suburb in the Inner West of Sydney in the state of New South Wales, Australia. It is located 12 kilometres west of the Sydney central business district, in the local government area of the Municipality of Strathfield. The name of the suburb derives ultimately from an estate to the north, called "Home Bush" and owned by colonial surgeon D'Arcy Wentworth, via the historic Homebush railway station, named after the estate and built in 1855. The present-day suburb of Homebush is bisected by the main suburban railway, Parramatta Road and the M4 Motorway into distinct sections with separate histories of development and present patterns of land use. South of the railway, "Homebush South" covers the core of the historic Village of Homebush estate developed in 1878. The Shire of Pyrenees is a local government area (LGA) in Victoria, Australia, located in the western part of the state. It covers an area of and in June 2018 had a population of 7,353. It includes the towns of Avoca, Beaufort, Lexton and Trawalla. It was formed in 1994 from the amalgamation of the Shire of Avoca, Shire of Lexton, and Shire of Ripon. Rathscar is a locality in Pyrenees Shire and the Shire of Central Goldfields. The area to the east of the Avoca River known as Rathscar West was surveyed in 1899. Gold mining The Melbourne newspaper The Argus reported in 1903 that a new gold-bearing reef had been discovered in Rathscar.
