Louise Christie
Louise Christie (born 22 September 2000) is a British people, British retired Rhythmic gymnastics, rhythmic gymnast. She is the 2022 Commonwealth Games silver medalist with ribbon. Personal life Christie took up the sport at age five after her mother signed her up for gymnastics, not realizing it was rhythmic, and by 2022 she trained for four hours per day. Her gymnastics idols are Salome Pazhava and Linoy Ashram; other athletes she admires are Simone Biles, Tom Daley and Andy Murray, as they had to face challenges to achieve success. She studied Applied Sport & Exercise Science at Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen and graduated in 2023. Following this, she began a master's program in physiotherapy at Queen Margaret University. Career Christie was first included in Great Britain's national team in 2019, when she was selected to compete at the Portimão International Tournament. The 2022 FIG World Cup circuit in Rhythmic Gymnastics is a series of competitions officially organized and promoted by the International Gymnastics Federation. Formats On February 26, 2022, the International Gymnastics Federation cancelled all events scheduled to take place in Russia and Belarus due to the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine. The Moscow World Challenge Cup, originally planned for 19–21 August and the Minsk World Challenge Cup, originally planned for 2–4 September, were affected by this decision and removed from the FIG calendar. 2024 Rhythmic Gymnastics European Championships
The 2024 Rhythmic Gymnastics European Championships is the 40th edition of the Rhythmic Gymnastics European Championships. The competition took place on 22-26 May 2024 at the László Papp Budapest Sports Arena, Papp László Sportaréna in Budapest, Hungary. It was the final qualifying event for the 2024 Summer Olympics. The individual Olympic quota from the competition went to Vera Tugolukova and the group quota to Azerbaijan, although these results were disputed by the Polish Gymnastics Federation. In 2025, the President of the Superior Jury of judges at the competition was banned for four years and stripped of her judging qualifications due to score manipulation. For 2024, the event also doubles as the Oceania Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships, with the gymnasts from Australia and New Zealand being ranked and qualifying for the Olympics separately from the European competitors.
