Lou Jones (athlete)
Louis Woodard Jones (January 15, 1932 – February 3, 2006) was an American athlete. He won a gold medal in the 4 × 400 m relay at the 1956 Summer Olympics. Born in New Rochelle, New York, Jones graduated from Manhattan College in 1954. He won the 400 m at the 1955 Pan-American Games, where he set a new world record of 45.4. He was also a member of the gold medal-winning American 4 × 400 m relay team. Louis Clayton Jones (November 13, 1935 – January 9, 2006) was an American international attorney and civil rights leader. An outspoken proponent for equal rights, he was a founder of the National Conference of Black Lawyers. Background A native of Lexington, Kentucky, Jones received a bachelor's degree from Howard University in Washington, D.C., from which he graduated summa cum laude in 1957 with majors in Philosophy and French. In 1956, he was inducted into the membership of Phi Beta Kappa and in 1957 was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship for study in France at the Sorbonne and the University of Bordeaux, where he studied political science and French literature. In 1958 he received a John Hay Whitney Fellowship and was accepted for admission to Yale Law School. He graduated in 1961. Lou 'Baby' Jones (1884–1924) was a pioneer rugby league footballer in the Australian competition - the New South Wales Rugby League (NSWRL) premiership. Playing career A forward, Jones played two seasons for the Eastern Suburbs club in the years 1908-1909. Jones played in Eastern Suburbs first match, and, although a reserve, is recognised as one of the first Australian representatives to come from the Eastern Suburbs club which included Dally Messenger. Louis Prince Jones, Jr. (April 28, 1931 – June 27, 1984), credited as Louis Jones or Louis (Blues Boy) Jones, was an American R&B singer, songwriter and musician who recorded in the 1950s and 1960s. Life He was born in Galveston, Texas, the son of Rebecca Prince Jackson and Louis Jones, Sr. He began singing with his mother in their church choir, and learned to play piano and drums. After attending Central High School in Galveston, he served as a medic with the US Army during the Korean War under the name Louis Prince, and worked as a longshoreman and shipyard worker. Louis Jones Jr
On February 18, 1995, 19-year-old American soldier Tracie Joy McBride was kidnapped, raped, and murdered by 44-year-old American soldier Louis Jones Jr. in Texas. Jones abducted McBride from Goodfellow Air Force Base and raped her at his house before bludgeoning her to death under a highway bridge in Coke County. He had, on another occasion, sexually assaulted his ex-wife Sandra Lane and was arrested on March 1, and the ensuing police investigation found that he was also responsible for raping and murdering McBride. Jones was tried and convicted in the U.S. federal court system for kidnapping resulting in death; his crime was a federal case since it had begun on a military base. The rape was the prime aspect to the murder, making it a capital offense. Following his initial denials, Jones eventually confessed that he had raped McBride in addition to murdering her, and was sentenced to death. Louis Jones (born 12 October 1998) is an English professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for club Dagenham & Redbridge. Career Doncaster Rovers After coming through the youth system since being a 12 year old, Jones signed his first professional contract with Doncaster Rovers in March 2017. This was extended in March 2018, then further in January 2019 for 18 months, and again in July 2020, until 2022.
