Long–Allen Bridge (Harrisonburg)
The Long–Allen Bridge was a truss bridge carrying Highway 8 across the Ouachita River at Harrisonburg in Catahoula Parish, Louisiana. This was the only point where La Route 8 crossed the Ouachita River in Louisiana. It was originally constructed in 1932, and it carried approximately 3,000 vehicles per day. The Long–Allen Bridge (named for Louisiana Governors Huey Long and Oscar K. Allen) was a two-lane swing bridge carrying U.S. Route 84 (US 84) across the Black River. It connected Jonesville, Louisiana Jonesville is the largest town in Catahoula Parish, Louisiana, United States, at the confluence of the Ouachita, Tensas, and Little rivers. The three rivers become the Black River at Jonesville. The Jonesville population was 2,265 at the 20 ... in Catahoula Parish with an unincorporated area of Concordia Parish near Wildsville, Louisiana. It was replaced by a larger bridge in 2009. The Long–Allen Bridge is a truss bridge in the U.S. state of Louisiana which carries LA 182 over the Atchafalaya River between Berwick and Morgan City. This bridge was built by the Mt. Vernon Bridge Co. of Mt. Vernon, Ohio, and opened for traffic in 1933. This bridge once served as a major crossing along the Old Spanish Trail and US 90 before the E. J.
