Commune (Vietnam)
A commune () is a type of third tier subdivision of Vietnam. It is divided into 11,162 units along with Ward (Vietnam), wards and Commune-level town (Vietnam), townships, which have an equal status. Communes have a lower status than Provincial city (Vietnam), provincial cities, County-level town (Vietnam), towns or District (Vietnam), districts. This subdivision has existed since 1428, when Emperor Lê Thái Tổ re-organised the country into five administrative levels. Xã 社 was the lowest level, equivalent to a village. Since 2019, Vietnam has undertaken a comprehensive rearrangement of administrative units in order to streamline the apparatus of local authorities. Bà Rịa–Vũng Tàu Province
Bà Rịa–Vũng Tàu (abbreviated BRVT) was formerly a province of Vietnam. It was located on the coast of the country's Southeast region. It bordered Đồng Nai to the north, Bình Thuận to the northeast and Ho Chi Minh City metropolitan area to the southwest. It also included the Côn Đảo islands, located some distance off Vietnam's southeastern coast. From 1954 to 1976, under South Vietnam, the province was called Phước Tuy. A provincial city () is a type of list of district-level subdivisions in Vietnam, second-level subdivision of Vietnam. Vũng Tàu
Vũng Tàu (''Hanoi accent:'' , ''Saigon accent:'' ) is an important port city in southern Vietnam. It serves as the maritime port of Ho Chi Minh City, the largest city in Vietnam. Vũng Tàu covers of area and consists of 16 urban wards and one commune of Long Sơn Island. Long Sơn Island
Long Sơn Island is an estuary island near Vũng Tàu, Vietnam. The Grand House of Long Son, home of the Ong Tran religion, is situated on the island. During the Vietnam War, the Viet Cong (C41 Company ''Chau Duc District Company'') used the island as a rest and training centre. In November 1966, Operations ''Yass'' and ''Hayman'' were undertaken by 3rd Squadron SAS and the 5th Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment upon the island. Gò Găng Island
Gò Găng (Vietnamese: ''đảo Gò Găng'') is an island that is part of the islandic commune of Long Sơn, Vũng Tàu in Bà Rịa–Vũng Tàu Province, Vietnam. Administratively, the island is entirely in Village 9 of the commune. Geography Gò Găng Island is located in the Long Sơn commune, a suburban area of Vũng Tàu and is about 3 km away in southwest of the city center. The 30km2 island borders rivers on three sides and the sea on another.
