Lokve, Serbia
Lokve (Serbian Cyrillic: Локве, Romanian: ''Locve'', ''Sân-Mihai'' or ''Simiai'') is a village in Serbia. It is situated in the Alibunar municipality, in the South Banat District, Vojvodina province. The village has a Romanian ethnic majority (90.85%) and a population of 2,002 people (2002 census). The town often seems rather empty since more than half of population of Lokve lives abroad - mainly in USA and Switzerland. Name and Name History In Serbian, the village is known as ''Lokve'' (Локве), in Romanian as ''Sân-Mihai'' or ''Simiai'', and in Hungarian as ''Végszentmihály''. The town name was changed from Saint Micheal when the town was invaded by the Nazi military forces during World War II. Historical population and cemetery The Town has two cemeteries, one on each side of the town, and is only used for each side. Every family gets reserved spots on the cemetery. Lokve, Croatia
Lokve is a Croatian municipality in the Primorje–Gorski Kotar County. With an area of 42 km2, it had a population of 850 in 2021. The municipality is located in the mountainous region of Gorski kotar. The Lokvarsko Lake () is located between the naselje, settlements of Homer and Mrzla Vodica. Climate Between 1960 and 2016, the highest temperature recorded at the local weather station was , on 27 July 1983. The coldest temperature was , on 8 January 1985. Demographics In 1870, Lokve općina, in Delnice ''podžupanija'', had 291 houses, with a population of 2173. Its 8 villages were divided into 2 ''porezne obćine'' for taxation purposes. Lokve had its own parish. In 1895, the ''obćina'' of Lokve (court at Lokve), with an area of , belonged to the ''kotar'' of Delnice (Delnice court and electoral district) in the ''županija'' of Modruš-Rieka (Ogulin court and financial board). Lake Lokve
Lake Lokve or Lokvarsko Lake () is an artificial lake in northwestern Croatia. It was created by damming the Lokve River in the 1950s. Location Lake Lokve is located in the mountainous Gorski Kotar region, about 30km east of the city Rijeka. The lake is bordered by the villages of Homer, Croatia, Homer, Mrzla Vodica, and Zelin Mrzlovodički in the Lokve, Croatia, Lokve municipality. Lokve, Nova Gorica
Lokve (; ) is a village in western Slovenia in the Municipality of Nova Gorica. It is located on the Trnovo Forest Plateau, above the Vipava Valley in the Gorizia region of the Slovene Littoral. It is a popular tourist center, serving as a summer resort for people from the towns of Nova Gorica and Gorizia (Italy). Škol Hill (; ) rises north of Lokve. Mass grave Lokve is the site of a former mass grave from the Second World War. The Lokve Mass Grave () is located in a depression near house no. 43 in the village. It contained the remains of Italian soldiers from the 10th Assault Vehicle Flotilla killed at the site in March 1945. The remains were discovered during excavations in December 2003 and were reburied in May 2004. Church The parish church in the settlement is dedicated to Saint Anthony of Padua and belongs to the Diocese of Koper.
