Locquénolé (; ) is a commune in the Finistère department of Brittany in north-western France. Toponymy From the Breton ''lok'' which means hermitage (cf.: Locminé), and '' Guénolé'' a Breton saint. Landmarks '' Church of Saint-Guénolé'', this Latin-cross-shaped church dates back to the 11th century. It features Romanesque capitals and a distinctive bell tower completed in 1681. Winwaloe
Winwaloe (; ; or ; – 3 March 532) was the founder and first abbot of Landévennec Abbey (literally " Lann of Venec"), also known as the Monastery of Winwaloe. It was just south of Brest in Brittany, now part of France. Life Winwaloe was the son of Fragan (or Fracan), a prince of Dumnonia, and his wife Gwen the Three-Breasted, who had fled to Brittany to avoid the plague.Butler, Alban. Winwaloe was born about 460, apparently at Plouguin, near Saint-Pabu, where his supposed place of birth, a feudal hillock, can still be seen. A hermitage most authentically refers to a place where a hermit lives in seclusion from the world, or a building or settlement where a person or a group of people lived religiously, in seclusion.
