Lloyd Richardson Leavitt Jr. (November 18, 1928 – March 14, 2016) was an American Air Force lieutenant general. Alpena, Michigan
Alpena ( ') is the only city in and county seat of Alpena County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 10,483 at the 2010 census. After Traverse City, it is the second most populated city in the Northern Michigan region. The city is surrounded by Alpena Township, but the two are administered autonomously. Fuchū Air Base (Tokyo)
is a Japan Air Self-Defence Force (JASDF) base located in Fuchū, Tokyo. It was originally an Imperial Japanese Army base from 1940 to 1945. After the Japanese surrender it was occupied by US forces and became a US military base known as Fuchu Air Station. The Japan Self-Defense Force started operating at the base in 1957, and it was also the first headquarters of U.S. Forces Japan from 1957 to 1974, when the headquarters moved to Yokota Air Base. In 1975, major portions of Fuchu Air Station was returned to the Government of Japan (GOJ), and USAF retained small portion for AUTOVON tandem switch, Troposcatter Site (JTS), and associated Technical Control Facility (TCF). Damascus Accident
The Damascus Titan missile explosion (also called the Damascus accident) was a 1980 U.S. nuclear weapons incident involving a Titan II Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM). The incident occurred on September 18–19, 1980, at Missile Complex 374-7 in rural Arkansas when a U.S. Air Force LGM-25C Titan II ICBM loaded with a 9 megaton W-53 Nuclear Warhead had a liquid fuel explosion inside its silo. The incident began with a fuel leak at on September 18, and culminated with the explosion at around on September 19, ejecting the warhead from its silo. The warhead landed a short distance away and no radioactive material was lost. Damascus is a town in Faulkner and Van Buren counties of central Arkansas, United States. The population of Damascus was 382 at the 2010 census. History Damascus is a town located in the Oark foothills on a platea surrounded by clear streams along U.S. Highway 65 on the county line between Faulkner and Van Buren counties. It is most known for its proximity to the Titan II missile base that operated from 1963 until 1980, when a missile explosion killed one person and injured twenty-one. Damascus is home to three Baptist churches, a Church of Christ that was built in 1917, and a Methodist church that was built in 1947. The Titan II was an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) developed by the Glenn L. Martin Company from the earlier Titan I missile. Ramstein Air Base or Ramstein AB is a United States Air Force base in Rhineland-Palatinate, a state in southwestern Germany. Chanute Air Force Base
Chanute Air Force Base is a decommissioned United States Air Force facility, located in Champaign County, Illinois, south of and adjacent to Rantoul, Illinois, about south of Chicago.
