Ljubo Germič
Ljubo Germič (born 19 November 1960) is a Slovenian politician and a former member of the Slovenian National Assembly. After the resignation of Pavel Gantar, Germič was elected the National Assembly (Slovenia), Speaker of the National Assembly on 2 September 2011, and succeeded on 21 December 2011 by Gregor Virant. Work experience After having graduated from the Technical Faculty of the University of Maribor, Department of Chemical Engineering in 1984, he started working as chemical technologist at the Ruše nitrogen factory. In 1987, he joined the staff of the Technical Faculty as a teaching and research assistant, continuing his postgraduate training at the University of Twente, the Netherlands (1992–1994). In 1994, he began teaching at the Secondary School of Ruše where he was appointed headmaster in 1997. 2008 Slovenian Parliamentary Election
Parliamentary elections were held in Slovenia on 21 September 2008 to elect the 90 deputies of the National Assembly (Slovenia), National Assembly. Seventeen parties filed to run in the election, including all nine parliamentary parties. A plurality of seats was won by the Social Democrats (Slovenia), Social Democrats, which subsequently formed a coalition government together with Zares, the Liberal Democracy of Slovenia, and the Democratic Party of Pensioners of Slovenia. University Of Maribor
The University of Maribor () is Slovenia's second-largest university, established in 1975 in Maribor, Slovenia. It currently has 17 faculties. History The university's roots reach back to 1859 when a theological seminary was established with the encouragement of Maribor bishop and patriot Anton Martin Slomšek. More faculties were established during the late 1950s and early 1960s; the faculties of economics, business, and technology in 1959, agronomy and law in 1960, and pedagogy in 1961. The National Assembly (, or ; short form ''državni zbor'') is the Representative democracy, general representative body of Slovenia. According to the Constitution of Slovenia and the Constitutional Court of Slovenia, it is the major part of the distinctively incompletely bicameralism, bicameral Slovenian Parliament, the legislature, legislative branch of the Republic of Slovenia. Gregor Virant
Gregor Virant (born 4 December 1969) is a Slovenian politician and public servant. Between 2004 and 2008, he served as Minister of Public Administration in Janez Janša's first government, between 2011–2013 he was Speaker of the National Assembly of Slovenia. He also served as Minister of the Interior and Public Administration in the government of Alenka Bratušek between 2013 and 2014. He was the leader (October 2011 – May 2014) of the Civic List, until April 2012 named ''Gregor Virant's Civic List'', a liberal political party established in October 2011 to compete in the 2011 parliamentary election. Since September 2019 he serves as head of Programme SIGMA, the joint initiative of the OECD and the European Union to provide support for improvement in governance and management to UE candidates and other countries in the area of influence. Ruše
Ruše (; ) is a small town in northeastern Slovenia. It is the seat of the Municipality of Ruše and lies on the right bank of the Drava River west of Maribor. The area is part of the traditional region of Styria. It is now included in the Drava Statistical Region.
