Marvel Comics
Marvel Comics is a New York City–based comic book publishing, publisher, a property of the Walt Disney Company since December 31, 2009, and a subsidiary of Disney Publishing Worldwide since March 2023. Marvel was founded in 1939 by Martin Goodman (publisher), Martin Goodman as Timely Comics, and by 1951 had generally become known as Atlas Comics (1950s), Atlas Comics. The Marvel era began in August 1961 with the launch of ''Fantastic Four (comic book), The Fantastic Four'' and other superhero titles created by Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, Steve Ditko, and numerous others. The Marvel brand, which had been used over the years and decades, was solidified as the company's primary brand. Falcon (comics)
The Falcon (Samuel Thomas "Sam" Wilson) is a superhero appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. The character was introduced by writer-editor Stan Lee and artist Gene Colan in ''Captain America'' #117 (Sept. 1969). Samuel Wilson, known by his superhero alias ''Falcon'', uses mechanical wings to fly, defend, and attack. He also has limited telepathic and empathic control over birds. After Steve Rogers retired, Wilson became Captain America in ''All-New Captain America'' #1 (Jan. 2015) and the leader of the Avengers. Wilson's deceased nephew was the Incredible Hulk's sometime sidekick Jim Wilson, one of the first openly HIV-positive comic-book characters. Jim Wilson's father Gideon Wilson would go on to join the Gamma Corps. ''Adventure into Fear'' is an American horror comic book series published by Marvel Comics from cover dates November 1970 through December 1975, for 31 issues. This is its trademarked cover title for all but its first nine issues, though the series is copyrighted in its postal indicia as simply ''Fear''. The first nine issues, cover-titled ''Fear'', reprinted science fiction/fantasy and monster stories from the late 1950s and early 1960s " pre-superhero Marvel" comics, primarily ''Journey into Mystery'', ''Strange Tales'', ''Tales to Astonish'', and ''Tales of Suspense''. Fantomex
Fantomex is a superhero appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. Created by writer Grant Morrison and artist Igor Kordey, the character first appeared in '' New X-Men'' #128 (August 2002). Fantomex is an escaped experiment from the Weapon Plus Program. He was designated as Charlie Cluster-7 while growing up in a high tech facility. Development Concept and creation Fantomex resembles the titular character of the Italian comic book ''Diabolik'' and its film adaptation '' Danger: Diabolik''. The character of Diabolik was in turn loosely based on the character Fantômas, the subject of a series of early-20th century French detective thrillers and a popular Mexican comic book adaptation, who Fantomex is named for. Fantomex's name, Jean-Phillipe, is a reference to actor John Phillip Law, who starred as Diabolik in ''Danger: Diabolik''. ''Fantastic Four 2099'' was a comic book series published by Marvel Comics, featuring the adventures of the Fantastic Four in the alternate future of Marvel 2099 (Earth-928). It ran for eight issues in 1996. Plot In the year 2099, Mister Fantastic, Invisible Woman, Human Torch, and Thing find themselves in new uniforms and transported to a very different Negative Zone than the one they knew. Returning home, they find the world changed and S.H.I.E.L.D. soldiers chasing after them as laboratory copies of the original Fantastic Four. ''Fantastic Four'' (sometimes stylized as ''Fantastic 4'') is a 2005 superhero film based on the Marvel Comics superhero team of the same name, created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. It was directed by Tim Story, and released by 20th Century Fox. The film stars Ioan Gruffudd, Jessica Alba, Chris Evans, Michael Chiklis, Julian McMahon, and Kerry Washington. The film follows the origins of the titular team as they learn to come to terms with their newfound abilities following their exposure to cosmic rays.
