Al-Bab ( / ALA-LC: ''al-Bāb'') is a Syrian city, administratively belonging to the Aleppo Governorate. Al-Bab is located northeast of Aleppo, south of the Turkish border, and has an area of . Al-Bab has an altitude of . According to the Central Bureau of Statistics (Syria), Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), it had a population of 63,069 in 2004. The population has surged to about 100,000 during the Syrian Civil War. Prior to the Syrian Civil War, al-Bab's inhabitants were composed of a Sunni Muslim, Sunni Arab majority, and a Kurds, Kurdish minority outside the city center. As of February 2025, the city is under the control of the Syrian National Army, as part of the Syrian Interim Government. The Turkish Armed Forces currently maintain a presence in the city. Yemen's Ministry of Information influences the mass media through its control of printing presses, granting of newspaper subsidies, and ownership of the country's only television and radio stations. Yemen has nine government-controlled, 50 independent, and 30 party-affiliated newspapers. There are approximately 90 magazines, 50 percent of which are private, 30 percent government-controlled, and 20 percent party-affiliated. The government controls the content of news broadcasts and edits coverage of televised parliamentary debates. Yemen's government usually monitors and blocks political and sexually explicit Web sites. By law and regulation, newspapers and magazines must be government-licensed, and freedom of the press in Yemen, their content is restricted. There have been reports of journalists being physically attacked, as well as arrested and detained.

The ''Yemen Times'' () was an independent English-language newspaper in Yemen. The paper was published twice weekly. History 1990–1999 The ''Yemen Times'' was founded in 1990 by Abdulaziz al-Saqqaf, an economics professor at Sanaa University, along with two assistants. The ''Times'' was among the dozens of newspapers founded in the wake of the reunification of Yemen and the new prospect of a democracy. Saqqaf registered the newspaper with the Ministry of Information and was granted Licence Number 9. The first issue of the ''Yemen Times'' was published on 27 February 1991, focusing on Yemen and President Ali Abdullah Saleh’s stance of neutrality during the Gulf War, which had recently concluded. ''14 October'' is an Arabic daily newspaper published in Aden, Yemen. The paper has been in circulation since 1967. The paper was named after the revolution in the South of Yemen on 14 October 1967. History and profile ''14 October'' was started in 1967. It is published in Arabic and is headquartered in Aden. It was formerly run by the government of South Yemen before the reunification in 1990. As of 2001 Ibrahim Al-Kaf was the editor-in-chief of the paper. ''14 October'' is run by the state of Yemen, and its publisher is the 14th October Foundation for Journalism, Printing and Publishing.
