Iceland
Iceland is a Nordic countries, Nordic island country between the Atlantic Ocean, North Atlantic and Arctic Oceans, on the Mid-Atlantic Ridge between North America and Europe. Einar Guðfinnsson
Einar is a Scandinavian given name deriving from the Old Norse name Einarr, which according to Guðbrandur Vigfússon is directly connected with the concept of the einherjar, warriors who died in battle and ascended to Valhalla in Norse mythology. Ingibjörg Sólrún Gísladóttir
Ingibjörg Sólrún Gísladóttir (; born 31 December 1954) is an Icelandic politician from the Social Democratic Alliance who has served as Minister for Foreign Affairs (2007–2009) and leader of the Alliance (2005–2009). She served as representative of UN Women in Afghanistan from 2012 to 2014 and later in Turkey as designated Regional Director for Europe and Central Asia. Education Sólrún received her bachelor's degree in history and literature from the University of Iceland in 1979. She then studied in Denmark as a guest student of the post -graduate studies in history at the University of Copenhagen (1979-1981). In 1981, she came back to Iceland where she graduated as a cand.mag. in history from University of Iceland in 1983. In addition to her native Icelandic, Sólrún speaks English, French and Danish. Bryndís Hlöðversdóttir
Bryndís Hlöðversdóttir (born 8 October 1960) is an Icelandic politician and former member of the Althing. A member of the Social Democratic Alliance, she represented the Reykjavík constituency from April 1995 to May 2003 and the Reykjavík North constituency from May 2003 to August 2005. Bryndís was born on 8 October 1960 in Selfoss. She is the daughter of security guard Hlöðver Kristjánsson and paramedic Kristjana Esther Jónsdóttir and has eight siblings - five brothers and three sisters. She lived in several places as a child - Skálmholt in Flóahreppur, Ey II in Vestur Landeyjahreppur and Kópavogur. She graduated from the Flensburg Polytechnic in Hafnarfjörður in 1982 and received a law degree from the University of Iceland (HÍ) in 1992. Reykjavík North (Althing Constituency)
Reykjavík North () is one of the six multi-member constituencies of the Althing, the national legislature of Iceland. The constituency was established in 2003 when the existing Reykjavík constituency was split into two. The constituency currently elects nine of the 63 members of the Althing using the open party-list proportional representation electoral system. At the 2024 parliamentary election it had 47,600 registered electors. History In March 1843 King Christian VIII of Denmark issued a royal decree converting the Althing into a consultative assembly. It consisted to 20 members popularly elected from single-member constituencies, one of which was Reykjavík. Björn Bjarnason
Björn Bjarnason (born 14 November 1944) is an Icelandic politician. His father was Bjarni Benediktsson (born 1908), Bjarni Benediktsson, Prime Minister of Iceland, Minister of Justice and Ecclesiastical Affairs and Mayor of Reykjavík. Matriculating from Reykjavík Junior College in 1964 and graduating in law (cand. jur.) from the University of Iceland in 1971, Björn was active in student politics and after graduation worked as a publishing director of Almenna bókafélagið from 1971 to 1974. South (Althing Constituency)
South () is one of the six multi-member constituencies of the Althing, the national legislature of Iceland. The constituency was established in 2003 following the re-organisation of constituencies across Iceland when the Southern constituency was merged with municipalities of Gerðahreppur, Grindavík, Reykjanesbær, Sandgerði and Vatnsleysustrandarhreppur from the Reykjanes constituency and the municipality of Sveitarfélagið Hornafjörður from the Eastern constituency. South consists of the Southern and Southern Peninsula regions.
