Julio Abril
Julio Vicente Agapito Abril Mayorga (20 August 1911 – 24 April 1979) was a Colombian sculptor, painter, and draughtsman. Biography Beginnings in the arts Julio Abril was born in Moniquirá on 20 August 1911. He studied in 1928 at the Salesian school Central Technical Institute of Bogotá and during 1929 was the student of Colombian cartoonist Lisandro Serrano's mother in Moniquirá. In 1933 he completed his studies at the school founded by the prominent educator Alfonso Ramirez who in timely fashion stimulated the budding artist in Abril. Miguel Gómez (March 29, 1974 - November 12, 2024) was a Colombian-American photographer and visual artist, based in New York City, whose style was marked by/best known for his work in fine art photography, portrait, editorial and landscape photography. Gómez worked between London and New York City. Early life and education He completed his primary and secondary education at Colegio San Carlos, a bilingual private school which he attended from 1981 to 1992 in Bogotá, Colombia. After graduating from high school, Gómez enrolled in the Architecture School of Bogotá's Universidad de Los Andes and eventually continued and completed his studies at Jorge Tadeo Lozano University from 1994 to 1999, earning a Professional (Bachelor of Arts) Degree in Advertising with an emphasis in Graphic Design. Leo Matiz
Leonet Matiz Espinoza (April 1, 1917 – October 24, 1998) was a Colombian photographer, caricaturist, newspaper publisher, painter and gallery owner. Early life Matiz was born in the small village of Aracataca in the Magdalena Department of Colombia to father Tulio Matiz and mother Eva Matiz. His hometown is also the birthplace of Gabriel GarcÃa Márquez. He travelled widely and sold caricatures and illustrations to earn a living. In 1951, Matiz's gallery hosted the first exhibition of Colombian artist Fernando Botero with a showing of his paintings at the Bogotá gallery. Career Matiz was known for his sense of style including a thick slightly long hair, colored jackets, and gangster style mustache. Santiago MartÃnez Delgado
Santiago MartÃnez Delgado (1906–1954) was a Colombian painter, sculptor, art historian and writer. He established a reputation as a prominent muralist during the 1940s and is also known for his watercolors, oil paintings, illustrations and woodcarvings. MartÃnez attended the Chicago Academy of Fine Arts under the tutelage of Ruth VanSickle Ford. In 1933, he was awarded the Logan Medal of the arts for his mural at the "Century of Progress" International Exhibition in Chicago. During these years in Chicago, he produced various illustrations for Esquire Magazine and participated in the Federal Art Project. MartÃnez was a disciple of Frank Lloyd Wright at Taliesin, where he began to experiment with the Art Deco style. Adriana Marmorek
Adriana Marmorek (born 1969) is a Colombian artist, exploring themes of desire through photography, video, installation and sculpture. Marmorek has shown her work in Colombia, the United States, Argentina, Italy and Belgium, and some of her work is owned by the Museo de Arte Moderno in Cartagena de Indias. Marmorek was nominated for the 9th Luis Caballero Award for Contemporary Art in 2017. She currently lives and works in Bogotá, Colombia. Sandra Llano-MejÃa
Sandra Isabel Llano-MejÃa (born 1951) is a Colombian multimedia artist. She is considered "a pioneer of video art in Latin America". In the 1970s and 1980s, Llano-MejÃa's video art was shown throughout Mexico and the United States. She has an interest in technology in her artwork, such as computers and medical equipment. In the 1970s Llano-MejÃa worked in xerox art. Llano-MejÃa attended in Cali, Colombia; followed by studies at Escuela Nacional de Artes Plásticas (ENAP) in Mexico City; National Autonomous University of Mexico; and Metropolitan Autonomous University in Mexico City. Diana Ordóñez (born 1987), known professionally as LEDANIA, is a Colombian multimedia artist based in Bogotá. Known mostly for her graffiti murals, LeDania also works in photography, graphic design, advertising, artistic makeup, and decorative items such as clothing and accessories. Career LeDania is most known for her positive and vibrant graffiti murals, most of which locate in Chapinero, a neighborhood on the north side of Bogotá. Her graffiti often features animals and insects from Tasmania, in addition to other mythological, magical, or autobiographical symbols. Other than graffiti, LeDania's figurative works derive from three different artistic movements: expressionism, cubism, and surrealism. Germán Londoño
Germán Londoño (born October 12, 1961, in MedellÃn, Colombia), is a Colombian painter, draftsman and sculptor. He studied in the Libe de Zulátegui Arts Academy in MedellÃn, Colombia and as a Master in Lithography at the Scuola Internazionale d' Arte IL Bisonte, Florence, Italy. Londoño's work has been exhibited in museums such as the Bogotá Museum of Modern Art, the Museum of Antioquia, the La Tertulia Museum and the Museum of Lisbon. Mario (; ) is a character created by the Japanese game designer Shigeru Miyamoto. He is the star of the ''Mario'' franchise, a recurring character in the ''Donkey Kong'' franchise, and the mascot of the Japanese video game company Nintendo. Mario is an Italian plumber who lives in the Mushroom Kingdom with his younger twin brother, Luigi. Manuel Hernández Gómez
Manuel Hernández Gómez (19282014) was a Colombian painter and educator. He is considered one of the key figures in abstract painting in the country, and exhibited his work internationally. Hernández Gómez was a professor at the School of Fine Arts in Bogotá, and served as director of the School of Fine Arts in Ibagué. Biography Hernández Gómez was born on October 20, 1928, in Bogotá, Colombia. He studied fine art at the National University of Colombia; and at the Academy of Painting in Santiago de Chile. Enrique Grau
Enrique Grau (December 18, 1920 – April 1, 2004) was a Colombian artist best known for his depictions of Amerindian and Afro-Colombian figures. He was a member of the triumvirate of key Colombian artists of the 20th century which included Fernando Botero and Alejandro Obregón. Early life Grau was born in Panama City, Panama, just like many of the children of his time with Colombian parents, and raised in Cartagena, Colombia. He was the son of Enrique Grau Velez and Carmen Araujo Jimenez. Career A self-made artist, he was influenced by the Colombian masters Ignacio Gomez Jaramillo, Santiago Martinez Delgado and Pedro Nel Gómez.
