Liplje Monastery
The Liplje Monastery () is a Serbian Orthodox Church, Serbian Orthodox monastery dedicated to the Annunciation and located in the Teslić, Municipality of Teslić in northern Republika Srpska, Bosnia and Herzegovina. It stands at the widest part of a narrow gorge through which a little river named Bistrica flows. The earliest mention of the monastery is found in a chronicle dated to the second half of the 15th century. During the 17th century, the monks of Liplje were active in transcribing religious books. At some point during the Great Turkish War (1683–1699), the monastery was burned down by the Ottoman Empire, Ottomans. Surviving monks fled north across the Sava, Sava River and found refuge in the Orahovica Monastery in Slavonia. They brought with them a number of their manuscript books, which thus became part of the Orahovica library. Unlike the nearby Stuplje Monastery, Liplje was not razed to the ground. Liplje, Postojna
Liplje (, ) is a small settlement north of Planina in the Municipality of Postojna in the Inner Carniola region of Slovenia. Geography Liplje is a scattered village below the east slope of Mount Planina (''Planinska gora'') and on the western edge of the Planina Karst Field (''Planinsko polje'') along the main road from Logatec to Planina. It includes the hamlet of Podgora north-northwest of the village core. There are some hayfields and tilled land in the karst field itself that are subject to occasional flooding. There are several springs below the road and above the karst field. Name The name ''Liplje'' is derived from a plural demonym, ''*Lipľane'' 'residents of Lipa', itself derived from the common noun ''lipa'' ' linden', referring to the local vegetation. Liplje, Vrbovsko
Liplje or Liplje Bosiljevačko is a settlement in the City of Vrbovsko in Croatia. In 2021, its population was 58. History Pavle Pavlinić and Jakov Ribić of Liplje were listed by as fallen antifascist soldiers in WWII. On 11 August 2012, drought caused a loss of tap water in Severin na Kupi, Draga Lukovdolska, Močile, Smišljak, Damalj, Klanac, Plešivica, Rim, Zdihovo and Liplje. Liplje was hit by the 2014 Dinaric ice storm. On 18 July 2023, the wind of a thunderstorm left Liplje without power. Demographics In 1828/1830, there were 147 residents in 15 families, all Catholic. Tirage: 200. In 1870, Liplje, in Rim's ''porezna općina'', had 27 houses and 196 people. Rim was in Lukovdol parish, but Zdihovo and Liplje were in Bosiljevo parish. Liplje, Zvornik
Liplje is a mountain village located in the municipality of Zvornik, Bosnia and Herzegovina, neighboring Snagovo. Within Liplje there are 14 settlements: Bajrići, Bećirovići, Čamlija, Hadžići, Husići, Jašići, Jošanica, Kadrići, Korin Brijeg, Liplje, Salihovići, Samari, Sultanovići and Velja Glava. History World War II In July 1943, the Yugoslav Partisan-aligned 1st Proletarian Brigade (Yugoslav Partisans), 1st Proletarian Brigade, with Filip Kljajić (Yugoslav Partisan), Filip Kljajić serving as their political commissary, liberated occupied Zvornik from the Wehrmacht and the troops of the occupying Independent State of Croatia. During withdrawal Kljajić died of an accidental gunshot on a hill on the outskirts of Zvornik. His body was brought to Liplje and buried. Kljajić's body was taken in the 1960s from that spot by his family and reburied in a family plot elsewhere. A memorial was erected on the spot where his corpse was originally buried.
