History

The district originated from a school built in Lineville in 1850. The ACL district, which had schools in Allerton, Iowa, Allerton and Lineville, formed with the consolidation of Clio, Lineville, and Allerton school districts, occurring between 1962 and 1966. Allerton de-merged from ACL and merged into the Wayne Community School District in 1967.

Lineville is a city in Wayne County, Iowa, Wayne County, Iowa, United States. The population was 195 at the time of the 2020 United States census, 2020 census. History Lineville has been called the oldest town in Wayne County, Iowa, Wayne County, but was not noted on early maps or in the 1850 state line survey, and probably attracted settlers from a nearby short-lived community called Grand River after the state line dispute was settled. Lineville was platted in 1858. Because part of the town is in Missouri and part in Iowa, it was named Lineville. The town square sits on the Iowa–Missouri border with the business on the south side of the square in South Lineville, Missouri. When Wayne County was Dry county, dry, liquor by the drink could be purchased at the bars on the Missouri side of the square. North Mercer School District
The North Mercer School District, officially known as the North Mercer County R-III School District, is a public school district headquartered in Mercer, Missouri. The district operates a single PreK–12 school, North Mercer School, and serves the town of Mercer and a portion of nearby Ravanna. Administration As of 2025, the district superintendent is Dan Owens, whose contract was extended by the Board of Education in 2020. The principal for all grade levels is Wes Guilkey, whose contract was also renewed in 2021. Academics The district offers a full K–12 curriculum and participates in dual credit programs to support college readiness. In 1995, students from the Lineville-Clio Community School District in Iowa attended Spanish classes at North Mercer School as part of a cooperative arrangement.
