Linear Men (comics)
The Linear Men are a fictional superhero team in the DC Comics universe. They first appeared in '' Adventures of Superman'' #476 (March 1991). Fictional history The Linear Men are a team of men and women who police time and work to resolve time paradoxes. The core team consists of Matthew Ryder (the leader and founder), an alternate future version of Ryder known as Waverider, Travis O'Connell, Liri Lee, and Rip Hunter, although other members of the Linear Men have been seen from time to time. An alternate Matthew, one who was once employed by Lex Luthor, also became part of the team. They operate in a base that exists during the last possible moment before the end of the universe, called Vanishing Point. The team's name is taken from the premise that after the ''Crisis on Infinite Earths'', time is strictly linear and paradoxes can unravel the sole remaining timeline. Smallville is a fictional town in American comic books published by DC Comics. The childhood hometown of Superman, Smallville was first named in ''Superboy'' #2 (May 1949). The town, long in an unnamed US state that was first defined as Kansas in '' Superman: The Movie'' (1978), is the setting of many ''Superboy'' comics where Superboy defends Smallville from various threats. Heat Wave (Mick Rory) is a supervillain appearing in comic books published by DC Comics. He is commonly as an enemy of Flash (comics), The Flash and a member of the Rogues (comics), Rogues along with Captain Cold, among others.
