Lina Grinčikaitė-Samuolė
Lina Grinčikaitė-Samuolė (born 3 May 1987 in Klaipėda) is a track and field sprint athlete, who competes internationally for Lithuania. Grinčikaitė represented Lithuania at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. She competed at the 100 metres sprint and placed third in her first round heat after Chandra Sturrup and Kelly-Ann Baptiste in a time of 11.43 seconds. She qualified for the second round, in which she improved her time to 11.33 seconds and placed second after Torri Edwards. With 11.50 seconds she placed sixth in her semi final race, which meant she was eliminated. Klaipėda ( ; ) is a city in Lithuania on the Baltic Sea coast. 2010 IAAF World Indoor Championships
The 2010 IAAF World Indoor Championships in Athletics was held between 12 and 14 March at the Aspire Dome in Doha, Qatar. The championships was the first of six IAAF World Athletics Series events to take place in 2010. Bidding and organisation The IAAF announced on March 25, 2007, at an IAAF Council meeting in Mombasa, Kenya that it had received bids from Turkey and Qatar to host the championships. Gold Medal
A gold medal is a medal awarded for highest achievement in a non-military field. Its name derives from the use of at least a fraction of gold in form of plating or alloying in its manufacture. Torri Edwards
Torri Edwards (born January 31, 1977) is an American sprinter. She competes in 100 and 200 meters, winning an Olympic medal in 4 × 100-meter relay in 2000. In 2003, she won six medals in major international competitions, including one World Championship gold. Edwards competed in the 100 m at the 2008 Olympic Games. Kelly-Ann Kaylene Baptiste (born 14 October 1986) is a Tobagonian track and field sprint athlete. Junior Competing at the international level for the first time, Kelly-Ann bowed out in the semi-finals of the World Junior Championships in Athletics. She ran 12.03 seconds to end seventh in her heat at the National Stadium in Kingston, Jamaica. In 2003, Kelly-Ann was the first Trinidad and Tobago female sprinter to win a medal in a global track meet when she ran 11.58 seconds to take bronze in the 100 m at the 3rd IAAF World Youth Championships in Sherbrooke, Canada. Chandra Sturrup
Chandra Lavon Sturrup (born September 12, 1971) is a Bahamian track and field sprint athlete. Career She is a 100 m specialist and the Bahamian record holder for the women's 100 m with a personal best of 10.84 set in Lausanne, Switzerland on July 5, 2005. Sturrup is an alumnus of Norfolk State University, and has taken part in almost every major event since 1991 after the birth of her son, Shawn Murray Jr. For most of her career, she was coached by Trevor Graham. Sturrup competed at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing at the 100 metres sprint. The 100 metres, or 100-meter dash, is a sprint race in track and field competitions. The shortest common outdoor running distance, the dash is one of the most popular and prestigious events in the sport of athletics. It has been contested at the Summer Olympics since 1896 for men and since 1928 for women. The inaugural World Championships were in 1983. On an outdoor 400-metre running track, the 100 m is held on the home straight, with the start usually being set on an extension to make it a straight-line race.
